Not really sure. I don't take note of the time it takes to make it; I just make it and have fun
I'd guess a couple of hours. But some time is also spend just figuring out how I want it. So, an hour or two a couple of nights.

This is just beautiful. Really inspiring to me as someone just getting into 3D modeling. 'w'

Thanks
I've been studying in Norway for the 2 first years, then my final year was at QUT in Australia, Brisbane. But to be honest we've learned very little 3D modeling at the uni.. We've mostly learned programing and animating and stuff like that(games and movies), and the little basic 3D modeling we did learn I already knew. But it's been great inspiration!

That's just too cool It would be way cooler if you could animate it with the compressors and turbine rotating inside
BTW what kind of programme are you using? SolidWorks, ProE?

it's really good. I hate Maya, and love Max. But that is purely individual. The both have the same power I'd say.

Thanks!
I'll see if I can do another model soon, with more details. More accurate details..

Are you sure that the this is a correct jet engine? It is not obvious to me how air gets into the combustion chamber. See link to Wikipedia illustration of a turbofan: [link]
But to be honest: the model and the composition looks great! Nice lightning setup.
Best regards
Martin

No, I have no idea if this is a real jet engine or not..
I've been thinking about the same myself, but this is how the ref was, so I thought I should stick with it. But you'r totally right. This wont work I think..

Really nice model. Would be nice to see some metal textures on this eventually though.

Thanks
Yes, I'll post up a metal render soon, but for some reason I'm having a problem with noise in my renders. Just switched over to LWF, and I cant get rid of all the noise as I use to.
So might take a few days before I do the metal render

Oooh, brilliant. I dunno about you, but I love the smoothness of it all.
Although, one thing I'd really like to see is the same thing made out of metal, with some of the inside parts absolutely gleaming. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback
I'll do a chrome render and see what results I get of that Or, at least a bit more shiny, to get some nice reflections!

Welcome!
Oh, lovely. I can't wait to see how it turns out! (especially since I'm useless with metals
Although, I don't use the same programs)
