unfortunately, it's actually kind of my version of a "speed paint" i just wanted to do something quickly so i made it at 800*600 :\

Looks like a space shuttle falling apart as it tries to land.
hehe, Exploder ... we used to call our Ford Explorer that; it stopped falling apart when we stopped though

Man i hated our 'ol explorer. It was in the shop more then it was on the road, and we eventually had to replace the entire transmission.

The shooting star and its bits look a little... pixely compared to the softness of the background stars. On purpose? At the very least I'd soften the halow around the main decaying star. And maybe streak-out the flying bits? Like... even in photos those bits don't have that kind of clarity. Just some suggestions. Tell me to clear off if you want.

nah, i always love your critique.
In this case it was intentional. This was a quick "spead paint" it only took me like 30 minutes to make and it was at this resolution so instead of going into detail i just sharpened it. I actually like how unrealistic it looks... kinda like a sparkler thrown through the air.
Besides, i have no idea /what/ it actually is... shooting star, exploding spaceship, the lucky sperm... it's all good

well, i just submitted a tutorial on my general method of making "special stars". This time the smudging was more focused on making it look like it was shooting and exploding. The other stars are just a brush i made with scattered dots that rotates. then i add in some overlays to make it look dramatic, lots of blurring and stuff... I'm at the stage where i can just go and go without thinking and then suddenly look up and see what i've created, it's really fun, hehe
