I was trying out some character designs for Breaker of The Code (Kai's backstory, for those who don't know), and at the same time, I figured I'd zero in on a key point in the story just to give you guys all some history on why Kai is the way he is. I'll probably make 3 or 4 pages of the next few scenes.

If you can't think through the Goji dialect, here's the translation.
"Ah, but I couldn't just abandon Andre."

Notes on the characters:

- Starria came out really cute! She's supposed to look very pure and innocent. I've never tried her with long hair, but I might keep it. (Note: She's a rebel "Mistake" that Kai has a dire crush on. At this point in the story, Kai comes and speaks to her often to escape the stress of his training. He has slowly been siding towards the rebels up to this point.)

- Kai is supposed to be kind of dorky. He's got big ears, and has trouble remaining in "city" dialect for more than a few sentences, much to Andre's dismay. He's overworked, overtrained, and still somehow finds time to reshelve the library books. (Not like anybody else does it. Or knows how.)

- Andre looks very much the same as he does in Fairy Foxes. He just has less messy (and shorter?) fur. He's mostly sane at this point in the story, but lots of bullying from military inferiors and learning that your best friend and brother has doubts about your views can lead to some drastic actions.
