I think I found out he was attempting to protect it from the evil monster for it was for a exhibit, I think.

No, I heard on the episode's description on one of the sites that one of the good guys used the statue to attack the monster of the day, while breaking it into a million pieces, but later on at the end, one of the robotic dinosaurs, a t-rex nonetheless, of the heroes is acting off as the replacement statue.

Ohhh yeah now I remember. yeah Gabutyra stood in for the dinosaur statue. I haven't watched that episode since it came out so yeah I totally forgot all that happened but I definitely remember now.
