This breeding has been in the works for quite a while, so I am so thrilled to finally be uploading this breeding picture between the stunning BHS Going Spotty 461 [link] and our own SWS Nordic Ballad 371 [link]

Standing up on a tall bluff, Ballad nickered with pleasure as a warm summer sea breeze ruffled through his silvery mane. It wasn’t often that he got the chance to roam so far like this, and he planned to soak it up as much as he could. His coat was already sandy from where he had scratched his back rolling on the dunes. The sun was beating down warmly, casting everything in a brilliant glow.

Everything included the mare by his side. Ballad nickered to Spotty when she climbed up the dune to stand beside him. He nudged her shoulder when she pulled at a bit of his mane. He felt like a reigning king surveying his kingdom from up here.

Spotty was done with his daydreaming though. With a playful nip and a sharp squeal, she plunged into a gallop and raced down the sandy hill to the beach. Once she was down there, she wheeled and spun on her hocks, calling for him to come join her.

My heart beats like a drum
A guitar string to the strum
A beautiful song to be sung
She's got blue eyes deep like the sea
That roll back when she's laughing at me
She rises up like the tide
The moment her lips meet mine

We may only have tonight
But till the morning sun, you're mine

Letting out a loud bugle, the blue roan stallion raced down to join the spotty mare. Thinking that she was going to stay put, he reached out to try and snatch at her tail as he ran by- but Spotty moved out of the way just in time. With a delighted whinny, she darted forward, Ballad charging behind her.

His heart was thundering almost as hard as his hooves on the packed sand. This mare drove him crazy- in a good way. He felt like a young colt again, playing on the beach with the spotted mare. Just as he was gaining on her enough to tag her with a quick nudge, she whirled away again with another one of those whinnies that sounded exactly as if she were laughing at him. Ballad had to let out an amused snort of his own, she looked so pleased with herself, standing there with her blue eyes sparkling.

Ballad knew, in the back of his mind, that he would most likely never see Spotty again- and if he did, it would be at a show or some event- not a beach date. Still, he was going to enjoy it to its fullest. Shaking off his sad thoughts, he darted forward and tagged Spotty with his muzzle, letting out a whinny of triumph as her surged past her.

They kept up this intricate game of tag along the shoreline for hours until they both grew too tired to continue their dance. Finally, when the moon was rising, the two of them climbed the same tall sandy bluff where the game had begun, and settled next to each other for the night. When the sun rose the next morning, they watched it rise together.
