Description
time for my favorite and most personalVendetta is the unfortunate child of Moondancer and Starlight Glimmer. She's born and raised in their hideaway Apploosa home just far enough to see the town she could never reach since her mothers always had an invisible forcefield up to keep intruders away. Being wanted criminals, it was obvious Starlight and Moon couldn't let their child go to school or even in public, at least not without a disguise. Even if they couldn't go out, this didn't stop other fillies from sneaking around trying to get in. Obviously grade school rumors were going around about their house, so Vendetta would often have to endure kids throwing rocks at their "abandoned witch hut" and screaming in glee whenever they saw her face in the window before turning tail and running away. Fillies just like her that she would never meet and never know... It left her very confused and yearning to interact. She was always tired and depressed, irresponsive and sometimes outright disobedient. This was not lost on her mothers, who then got her the lovely teddy Spuddles to try and satiate the desire for other ponies.
However, this would backfire. Vendetta's behavior got worse, impossible even. She claimed it was Spuddles making her do it, leading the moms to believe it was just some sort of phase, but as she asked for more dolls, she became more disturbed. She would claim they were bullying her and trying to make her do things she didn't want, even though she was clearly using her magic to manipulate them. She hinted at them telling her to hurt her parents and would stay up at late times int he night preparing things for them because she was scared they would hurt her. Even though their daughter's mental state was slipping (and despite all of Moondancer's warnings and pleas) Starlight refused to find a therapist because 1) What if they found her out as y'know, a super cult leader? 2) No child of hers was mentally ill, simple as that. It was just an overactive imagination, just a phase, just kids being kids, blah blah blah... maybe having another kid would help her cope and learn what was normal.
But with a second kid, a beautiful baby boy it only made Starlight realize how much she hated and feared her own daughter. She was so unpredictable, so disobedient...she couldn't control her, couldn't figure out what she would do. The child was getting more bold, more retaliating to their help. Trying to use magic, or a magic blocking ring for her horn, or throwing the dolls away...which would prove to be the worst decision of her life, because Vendetta did the unthinkable. This lead to Starlight finally snapping and declaring that this was NOT her daughter. In fact, it wasn't even a pony. She was going to punish her to hell and back, Our Town way and worse. Moondancer tried to argue, but Starlight said her sweet manipulative words, like "the ends justifies the means", "she's hardly like us anyway", "we can use her for spells since she doesn't legally exist, we won't get in trouble." It took months, but eventually, Moondancer gave in. They both resigned to treating their daughter like garbage, as nothing more than a guinea pig like the others before her.
The dehumanization and pain that her mothers put her through was unbearable. It's what shattered her psyche and left her truly incapable of connecting to anyone on any level, and bred an insurmountable amount of distrust and loss of the ability to mature normally, especially since she was going through puberty when this all happened. By the time she was powerful enough to break free, she lost everything and everyone, even her cutie mark.
This would lead to a massive fight and Vendetta running away at last around 18, out into a world she didn't know. After a couple years of mugging, swinging, mental breakdowns, alley fights, and living in doghouses, she would end up onto the trodden path to a mafia hideout. Wonderworks was quite horrified by the mare, to be frank, what with her untimely dissociations from reality and hard to understand emotional state, but he vowed to help her get back on her hooves to live a normal life if she vowed to join in his cause. But she said she didn't know what a normal life was, only how to make life worse for others and that frankly, she enjoyed it. To this, he smirked and declared, "I have the perfect job for you."
She's a professional torturer, loves getting information out of people and outdrinking all the big bad stalions around the mafia hideout. If she shows up in the middle of the night on your doorstep, just know you've crossed the most dangerous horse in Equestria. To keep people from taking advantage of her questionable mental state, Wonderworks gave her a Changeling assistant (who we'll see later) who does a great job of keeping her focused and on her toes. He's a sassy yesman and keeps her from unnecessarily being violent towards others, and more importantly, herself.

You know I feel so sorry for her. I mean she was not born like that, it was years of cruelty and abuse (and maybe some psychological illness) that made her like this. And if we start to analyze, Starlight is really the villain, a crazy scientist. She is like the doctors from the concentration camps in the wars, where they experimented with the prisoners, since according to them they were not people. She is capable of anything to satisfy her morbid curiosity and hunger for power and adoration. After all, people with mental problems are more likely to be victims of a crime than to be the authors of it. There is a series that I like called criminal minds, and they talk about things like that, the mind is very complicated, not all react the same way to abuse.
I think that's why it bothered me how they did the Starligth reformation, she was a cult leader. No matter how you look at it, all the villains had their punishments and in their reform they are called from their shit when they pass the line, but Starligth ... was all served on a silver platter. That why I do what I want in my universe, plus there are many things that whant to change XD
(It reminds me a little of the ElfenLied anime (although I like the manga more) these characters called diclonians are creatures with unique abilities, with a willingness to kill and be sadistic but only if they are treated with cruelty, since they are capable of empathy, be kind and love. They are guinea pigs from inhuman experiments, with the excuse that it is to protect humanity when it really was to create weapons and improve the human species.)

yeah, i think if Starlight had the chance to use people for
an experiment, she would....oh wait! thats canon LOL
unfortunately her own daughter was subject to this as
well because she made herself (and her wife) believe she
was something different than them. and once you believe that
someone is above or below you, the way you look at things
comepletely changes. and yes, criminal minds is a great show!
i dont watch it but i do watch a lot of true crime videos!
as for Starlight's lack of punishment and hasty redemption, i
could write a whole essay about it but...im going to refrain myself LOL
(ok that anime actually sounds rlly interesting and i might
check it out...)

Yeah ElfenLied its really good but I recommend that you read the manga is more complete and explains things that the anime does not, or you can watch both.
And about Starlight... I have my own take about her history, I like what Lop did with her being in prision and be put into Twilight's reform program with long hard hours of community service. But in my version is a little different, yes she is in the reform program, have probation and cannot leave without a companion for at least 10 years, and she has prohibited from doing any activity that puts her in command position and other thing that I still thinking.
Ok prepare for huge headcanon time! Just one person read it and so I open to opinions, oh and sorry if some thing sound weird but english its not my first language.
I like the headcanon of Lop that who called out Starlight is Applejack, but for me it would be super cool if it was someone unexpected, like Sunset, Luna or Discord, an ex-villains who suffered the consequences of their actions, who still have to work for to be better, they do not expect to be forgiven easily and they know that others will judge them for their past, so they do not expect everything to be forgiven or for the people who they hurt to forget and act as if nothing had happened, so they just keep going.
I can see a situation in which the ex villant and Starlight are in a doing some things at an event, maybe in her old small town (where unlike the canon, in my verse the inhabitants have not forgiven her at all and are suspicious of her, even scared. But she always refused to believe that someone like her who has changed so much, that even a hero can not be forgiven) and she makes one of her attempts to help which end in failure due to the abuse of her magic, maybe someone makes a yell her of how irreponsible that was and she reacts with a "I was just trying to help" and then they tell her that for a pony that says she has changed she is still quite same and that she should go now...
And then a Starligth hurts silently leaves, in the castle talks to her fellow ex-villain "What is their problem? I already apologize. How can they judge me by my past? I changed, honestly they are being very unfair to me, I already paid for what I did in the past, what else do they want?" Then the ex-villant start to get angry and tell her that its normal for the ponies to react that way if you just give them a weak ass apology, after the problem was obviously your fault and you didn't try to stop because your ego was too big to admit you were wrong. And she replies "What? How can you say that? You should be on my side! You know what it feels like, you are like me. But of course it is easy for you to say that, since everything for you was a piece of cake, right? "
I can see the ex-villain explode and shout right there all that everyone thinks of Stalight. Since her pride blind her, she cant admit her mistakes, how can she be so cynical to compare herself with them when they paid their crimes with equal proportions, they struggled to gain the trust of others, were feared, hated and excluded. But she got away easy, a former cult leader, manipulative, violent and spiteful who tried to destroy the past by her own hunger for revenge, what was her punishment? a few months of jail, some rules to follow and public service? Oh please don't make them laugh! Even now, she many times use her magic to make other do what she wanted because she did not know another way that was not to force and manipulate others to get things done, she was inconsiderate and selfish and hurt the others because she thought it was fine, since she was helping, and it always ended up in disaster but just because she said "Im sorry" everything was forgiven.
When they were wrong, the others scolded them for their mistakes and they learned and tried to improve. She always had the forgiveness and they were the bad guys who had to work their asses off for someone to even talk to them. She earned everyone's trust so easily, she didn't work to improve and repair her mistakes and hope everyone to be fine just because she is sorry? It's not enough to say I'm sorry, it's not enough to feel bad, she must admit her mistakes, and if she fall, work twice to deserve a place, it is not the fault of others.
She must work for remission but if who her hurts choose not to forget and not forgive her, she must live with that and move on. They are not bad or unfair because of that, they were, manipulated, abused and traumatized for her and have no responsibility in making her feel better about herself accepting her apologies or raising her ego by admitting how much she changed and were right.
Starlight indignant and angry, casts an attack spell (like the one she cast at Discord) but at this time they were faster and rejected it. They look at Starligth with cold eyes and say how wrong Twilight was in taking someone like her as her pupil, that they doesn't understand how everyone spends their energy on a lost case like her and can't wait for others to realize that she has not changed at all and throw her away. Starlight, for the first time in a long time feel fear, and if they were right? She rushes to find her friends and tell them what happened, hoping they would support her. But no, in fact they get angry because the mess on the town and that she tried to harm someone with her magic, and Twilight ... she looks so disappointed. Starlight can't believe it, she runs away crying and they know nothing about her for several days, until she communicates with the ex-villain.
The two have a long conversation, and Starlight tells them they was right, the truth hurt her and she acted like her old self. She accept that she took for granted her friends and the forgiveness, and how she thought all shoud be easy for her because she deserved it, she kept saying and doing the same horrible things from before and everything else they said about her was true...and she thanks them, because they was the only one who told her things as they are and that she sorry, she really sorry and that this time she really gonna change and seek help to learn to control her emotions and demons and be a better pony (maybe a psychologist or a group of help). And that's when Starlight really starts to change for the better, nobody really changes 100% but now she will be responsible for her actions for firt time.

PHEW i finally got around to reading this whole thing and thank god I did because it was STUNNING! first of all, i can't even tell language isn't your fiirst language--this was written wonderfully! secondly, i love the events and the realism in what happens, about Twilight being disappointed and whichever villain it make be shutting her down. I feel these are the events that would need to be put in place if she really did want people to forgive her--the realization that the don't have to. Also thank you for having the idea that people in Our Town are still afraid of her, because honestly who wouldn't be? She snapped and at the end of the episode literally tried to kill Double Diamond, Party Favor, Night Glider and Sugar Belle and was only saved by the fact that Twilight--an ALICORN--had to protect them. The idea of her resorting to violence when she doesn't get her way is something we've seen time and time again, and I'm glad you incorporated that into the story as well. Great work, I loved it!

Omg thank you very much !!!
I still don't know which ex-villain to choose me, I'm tempted to choose Discord. I don't know why, but would someone like him be a twist? I really like that scene in a A Matter of Principles.
Spike: What's your problem?
Discord: My problem? How is the fact that Twilight decided to put an incompetent, power-hungry unicorn in charge of her school my problem?!"
I'm going to copy and paste a comment I made about that episode, when it was released.
"It's true Discord was acting like a jerk and releasing his frustrations with others but also it's true that Starligth was not any better. I mean yes she had every right to be angry by what he said and did, but she had the chance to act like an adult, like a friend but instead of that when he told her the truth, instead of speaking, she banished him like someone who hits or insults someone for telling the truth about your faults.
I will not deny that Starligth has tried to change her manipulative nature and tendency to solve everything by force with magic, but she more than anyone should understand how difficult it is to adapt to others when you have acted in a way for so many time. Besides, is it just me? or it is super unfair that in spite of all the evil that she did, the small town-dictatorship, stealing the cutie marks, the spell of time, sabotaging the past and bringing multiple catastrophic futures all for her egoistic desires and revenge, she has absolute trust of Twilight so fast! And she did not receive a punishment for everything she did. Remember the episode of Cozy Glow, she told Starlight that she failed her exam on purpose so that the CMC could enter the school, and her answer "Thats devious! I mean ... I see" here it is noted that she tries to change her point of view of what it right but still struggles with his old self.
Discord also did bad things in the past, the chaos is neither good nor bad, everything depends on the focus, in his case a lot of power used in the wrong way, but of course he received his punishment. Dicord was transformed into stone twice, and without mentioning the betrayal when he joined forces with Tirek, but still he did many things to help the main six when they had problems, he apologized. The spirit of disharmony, lord of chaos, apologized.
And in a way I understand that maybe he felt jealous and annoyed, that a unicorn that had done as much destruction as he had in the past, a former villain like him, has the trust of others, when he really tries and i says he tries to change but he is the king of chaos you can not expect him to follow all the rules, and not be man-child from time to time. But being left out I think it brings out the worst in anyone."
I also changed many things about the show in my universe and many things never happened.

I'm no psychatrist so I apologize in advance for my assumptions but I'm really curious....
So she definitely has schizophrenia, considering she hallucinates her plush toys talking to her - though why are her hallucinations so violent? And what could be causing her violent outbursts later in life?
I'm guessing trauma from the lack of care and love from her parents, and especially from the lack of a therapist who would've helped her control her emotions a bit better....
I'm really interested in psychology/psychiatry, though I actually never analyzed in depth emotional disorders and such, especially those trauma-related.
Would you be willing to share such details or are you planning on revealing them with time?

psychotic break i had a few years back, and also very troubling incidents
from my own childhood, so all of her troubles and trauma as a kid do
manifest themselves in terrifying ways such as the dolls she wants to
be her friends acting like the only other kids who've ever known (aka, jerks)

AH thank you! and i totally forgot to add that little tidbit to the description, so i'll
just go ahead and tell you the shorthand version while i add that in:
she did get a cutie mark, but in Starlight's "what ifs", she wondered if she could destroy
a cutie mark, removing it forever. She, unfortunately, succeeded. The scar left behind
is from Vendetta herself, in a blind rage of frustration and hate, wishing she had even a
little magical tattoo to guide her to be what shes supposed to be, she tore out all the hair
on her flank so many times it just doesn't grow back anymore. :<

at this point, she doesn't remember and she doesnt think about her

which her Changeling assistant (she calls him a Service Bug lol) will
