Description
I wanted to make a comparison of different versions of Garfield. Even though all of these traces are in flat color and with outlines, you can still guess where I traced these from.1. the first comic strip (1978)
2. common comic appearence
3. CGI cartoons (American movies and the French series, their styles don't differ much) (2007-2009)
4. live-action + CGI movies (2004, 2006)
Garfield belongs to Jim Davis

Wow, Garfield looks realistic in two live action movies.

The second version has always been my favorite, but I think the third version looksΒ the mostΒ similar to the second one. And I'm very happy that the designers of the CGI movies and The Garfield Show were able to make Garfield look close to the popular second version that most of us grew up with.

The Garfield Show was more accurate to the original character design than the CGI movies. But yes, the styles are very similar.

I don't understand all the hate about the last one's design.
It's the best they could do to make a cartoon cat to look more realistic and fitting to the surrounding scene,
plus if they made him look too realistic like the other characters his younger generation fans (mainly kids under 10 years of age) may never recognize him.
It's a fun family movie, meant to be watched by kids at a young age, I am sure most people were expecting too much from the movie or just didn't like the sudden change from cartoon to real life and complain just for the sake of it.
I like all of them but no.3 is my least favorite XDΒ

I heard of it, I watched a few videos from that game in 2011. But I can't add any more traces ATM.

Ok, shocker.
But someone named Veanko used two of these traces to make a Garfield.

The two Garfields in the middle are the best.
The Garfield in the live-action movies looked horrible to me. They should have rendered in a minimalistic fashion like the comics did, and gotten rid of all the fur. And why did Garfield's eyes need to be green?

I've hated the french version and the design of Live action garfield. The reason is that in the french version, Garfield was voiced by a TV and radio Host, called SΓ©bastien Cauet who's totally ruin the original voice of Bill Murray. I prefer Garfield CGI cartoon's voice (GΓ©rard Surrugue).

Yes.
I wanted to include 2 comic versions of Garfiled (debut and the one we're all used to), CGI cartoon version and CGI live-action film version. But "The Garfield Show" isn't the only CGI cartoon.

I've seen charts of how Garfield's design progressed in the comics. It's interesting seeing them compared to the CGI versions.
While I didn't really like the movie itself, I do like the design of Garfield they made for the live-action movie. (And to their credit, casting Bill Murray for his voice was an inspired choice.)
