These are so adorable! I love the cute simplicity of their clothes o.o And Merlin's hair...it's just perfect, absolutely perfect. I've been in love with his hair since season one <3

Thank youu!
Yeahh, it was really refreshing to go for some simple clothes for once, but at the same time, weird because I'd been working on quite complex things... like a nine piece jacket for 007... xD
Hehe, I do love his hair too. I couldn't resist making it all spiky and cute. I'm so glad you love it.

You're welcome
I bet it was. I remember when I had to do Bobby's clothes And that wasn't even half as complicated as most of the stuff you do, but it was my first time. O.o Nine piece? Wow, that's impressive. Have you posted that one yet?
I'm glad you couldn't resist, because it turned out adorable

Awww! I went and found your little Bobby - He's so adorable!! Really nice work!
The only thing now is that doing complicated stuff uses more brain work and problem solving to figure out how to make something... and now the little plushies are mostly just: Ok, gonna make this person, cut bits of fabric round plush body, sew, done. xD It's not quite as exciting or challenging.
I did! Here he is: [link]

Thank you I'm glad you like him. He currently lives with one of my friends, now.
Oh, I know what you mean O_o at least, with things other than sewing, as I haven't gotten far enough where anything in that respect is actually easy. But I was an avid bead artist for a couple of years, and once I reached a point where I could pretty much make anything, the easier stuff was just second nature. I usually tend to drop things once I reach that stage, and pick them up later when I can incorporate it into another project. I'm thinking about doing dolls with beading on them some time in the future
He's amazing! I can see how complicated that would be

Awwww.
I've obviously still got a lot to explore and learn with sewing - certain clothes and things I haven't made before, but that's what makes it exciting. I think I'll just have to keep up some more complex projects while I make little ones too. I think I'm getting tired of the shape of my little ones though... there are just some characters where I'm thinking... I don't want them to be sprawled like a star fish... it wouldn't work with them. Plus there are more possibilities with my larger plush templates.
Yeahh, I'm thinking in future I could sculpt a body in modelling clay or something... and sew clothes for it. All about trying new things!!
Aww, thank you!! Yess, was quite the challenge to figure out, but so rewarding at the end.

There's always more to learn with most art forms, so yeah, that probably is what makes it so entertaining And I usually can't stick with one thing for as long as you have, so props to you. I think that mixing it up a little would be fun. I've seen one of your larger plushies...Jane I think, and he looked pretty awesome. I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing a few more of those types.
And I bet there are. You've got more space to work with. You can only go so tiny with sewing, before all the seams blow up or just don't work. At least, that's what happened with mine >.>
That would be awesome. There was a point where I was crazy about sculpted dolls. Still think they're pretty awesome. You're good at sculpting, from what I've seen. I think you'd do good with it.
No problem And that's the best part, when what you've thought up actually works

Haha, well I do go through periods of not wanting to sew for a while. I did want to start with crochet, but unfortunately I got back into sewing before that happened. xD I loved seeing a combined crochet/sewing doll, where the doll was all sewn apart from the chainmail, which they'd used crochet with silver yarn for. It was really effective. Brilliant idea I must say.
Well I've made one uber-massive plush (Kate Beckett from Castle). I won't be making any more of that style because I don't actually have enough space for another one. My room isn't that big. xD The next size down is my Tuxedo Jane. I also made a John Marston from Red Dead Redemption in that size. Then it's my medium cuddly ones, which are the ones I love at the moment. They're lovely and squishy. Bigger means you can get more, and more effective, detail in. So that's why I love the medium cuddly in comparison to the little ones at the moment. And they're super adorable.
How exactly do you do sculpted dolls? Do you sculpt a base and cover it in fabric?
Haha, luckily it happens like that most of the time... there was one time where I made a pair of jeans too tight. It took about 20 minutes to get them on because I refused to waste them. xD But with my medium cuddly plushies, I'm actually taking their measurements to make the clothes fit properly. Which is so cool to do in comparison to just cutting bits out. Makes me feel like I'm making clothes for little people.

I went into crochet for awhile, but ended up getting frustrated with it after a month or so. I do want to get into it again...what's that called, amigurumi?
[link]
That one's cute, though I like the dogs the best
[link]
That is an awesome idea. My brother was crocheting himself some chain mail at one time, but the yarn wasn't think enough
That's awesome. I don't think I've seen that one, I'll have to look. Ha, I know what you mean, I've started canvas painting, and now it's an issue as to where to cram all the things, plus the supplies I've gotten, not to mention. My room is a tiny corner of a loft
Ah yes, squishiness is one of the best things about plushies. I used to be an avid stuffed toy collector when I was little, and it was always the softest, squishy ones that I picked out.
That they are, not to stroke your ego or anything
I've seem people do things like that, though what I was thinking of was the ones that you sculpt the bodies, and just make the clothes for. Though perhaps that's an idea you should just try out and see what happens. Not sure how you would get the fabric to mold to the doll, though...perhaps with some sort of medium? Aside from that, I've only ever dabbled in sculpting the fabric itself, after you've stuffed the head. Needle sculpting, I think it's called. I have seen people make armatures for their dolls.
Aaagh, I did the exact same thing, I think it was with the Dean plushie. I just squashed him into them, and then sewed them on so they wouldn't pop off. Tada! Mm, it's hard to throw out something you've just fiddled with >.> And I try to do that with the little dolls, but the clothes always turn out smaller than what I need. Alas. Little things are awesome.

Haha. So far I've only managed to make a chain stitch with crochet - I couldn't figure out the descriptions of the next stitches in the book at all... >.> I have a DVD and some clearer diagrams to try out now though.
Yup, that's the name. They're really cute!!
He crocheted some chainmail for himself...?? Wow that's quite the project. Though I suppose people do crochet jumpers and stuff, so it wouldn't be that different. Very cool!!
Oh sewing supplies, how you do fill my wardrobe so effectively... xD
Welll, I just feel more confident in my skills knowing how they've improved so radically since I started. xD I still love you little dodgy Greg plushie though!! Plus, the dolls I make are my own choice of style, so you generally make something that you yourself find adorable.
Tastes may differ from person to person of course.
Hmmm... I think I know the type of doll you mean. I've seen quite a few with a kind of sculpted face... I personally find some of them a little creepy, but I won't deny that they're very clever, and it's pretty impressive to be able to create the shape in a doll like that. I wouldn't even know where to start... xD Armatures would be cool. Then you can make poseable dolls. I'm not sure any of my plushies really lend themselves to that so far though... Perhaps the tall skinny ones if I constructed them differently.
Haha. Yes. If you've spent a good while on something, you don't want to go chucking it out and starting again.

Crocheting is easier than knitting at least, in my opinion. I got good enough to make simple things like the monsters in my gallery, and I also made a flying pig, a fish...and about a thousand squares for an afghan
Ah, DVDs definitely help. I am fond of using pictures, also.
I knooow
Indeed, chainmail. Well, if you met him, you wouldn't be surprised. He's a very interesting person to be related to.
Ha A lot of mine are shove underneath my bed.
Seeing the improvement definitely makes one feel good ^.^ Be it anything. I remember when I first started cooking...disaster it's still a disaster, just a more controlled one.
Indeed. That's why I'm thinking about starting to make my own clothes, for the adorableness subject Sewing is awesome.
There's creepiness in any type of doll making So I can imagine. I tend to like the cuter ones. Some people try to make them...majestic, I suppose, but I never buy it XD Well, there's a few books on the subject. I have one of them, but I've pawed through plenty. It's pretty much just making a tiny stitch where you want the indent to me (such as, for the side of a mouth), and then pulling on the thread, and tying it off in the back. There's other methods, but that's one of them.
And indeed, I've thought about doing that with a Red Ridding Hood doll I've been thinking about making. Yeah, I think it works better with plushies that have longer, thinner arms, though never hurts to try out a new idea.
Sorry for the late reply. Got a little crazy around here for awhile
