Description when the Avatar finale preview from NYCC came out on youtube, i was soaring with happiness! ... and then everything came crashing down when Sozin's Comet came out.

basically, i drew this picture out of bitterness. bryke was all like "zutara would have never worked out, kids. it's too dark and intriguing" and i was like "I'LL GIVE YOU DARK AND INTRIGUING." haha that's how this drawing came to be.

i didn't use any references for this picture because i sort of drew this .. on a moving bus to Disneyland. LOL it was difficult but my burning passion for Zutara kept me going. i'm half kidding. XD

btw, i'll totally loving the whole Zutara week on DA. AWESOME. i found out about it a little too late. i'm a total procrastinator so it probably wouldn't have worked out for me anyway. i hope i'm contributing to the Zutara love with this fanart?

Well you're definitely paraphrasing there but I do think they meant that Zutara sounds better on paper(or fanarts) than it ever would in the show.
So yeah the idea of 2 former enemies like that, whose nations have different ideologies, sounds dark and intriguing but really it wouldn't work as well as people think.

well i was paraphrased a little, but i was pretty to the point:

B: Zuko and Katara might have shared some sparks, but sometimes there are people along your “journey of love” who are there to teach you about yourself and what you really need, but don’t necessarily end up being your partner. Come on, kids! “Zutara” never would have lasted! It was just dark and intriguing.

but i see what you meant. it may seem dark and intriguing because of the fact that they're from two different nations, but the characters themselves have similarities. i truly believe that the process of their relationship would have definitely been interesting. they could have challenged each other to another level.

i suppose i was more angry at the fact that previews and trailers kept leading us on with false hope until the creators finally came out and said "we never intented Zuko and Katara to get together."

well thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts! i hope you didn't mind that i shared a bit of my own in return. although shipping separates some of us, at least we're still connecting by the fact that we all love Avatar, right?

i just hope that the finale is going to be so much more informative and EPIC than the book was.

There are really some things that are beyond the creator's control.
Like the way the show is advertised and such. If Nick thinks putting a little Zutara action in a promo is gonna help...then goshdarnit if it end ups making them more money, they're gonna damn well go ahead and do it. In their 30 year history they've had such a big Internet fandom revolve around one their shows, and let's be honest that's where 'shipping lives, so they made sure to make the most of it. They fail a lot of time like their new Fanart contest...where you have to submit pieces before the 15th!!!! That's a few days away. Instead of announcing this 2 months ago when they could have had nice well produced artworks, they're gonna receive rushed final products.

Lastly on the subject of Zutara, if there were more interaction between them then I could have possibly entertained the idea of the 2 of them as a couple. Like if Zuko had joined the group at the end of Crossroads Of Destiny but then again the whole story would have changed entirely. Iroh wouldn't have been captured so along with Zuko would have joined...and with those 2 the invasion surely wouldn't have failed. So you see the story as it has been progressing didn't allow Zuko and Katara to form anything beyond a friendship which many people term "Kazuko". They're gonna be spending some time together in upcoming episodes so enjoy that as much as you can.

VERY true. the fact that Nick sorta favors Spongebob over Avatar = epic failure. i recently found out about the fanart contest and the date is so laughable. i mean unless Nick's standards of fanarts are on a 2nd grader's level, the fanarts they'll receive will definitely not be at its full potential. what's the prize of winning anyway? if there isn't a prize, maybe that's the reason for its late notice. lol

and i agree with you. if Zuko joined Aang in CoD, many non-shippers might have seen the potential of Zutara but the episode was like a double-edged sword to me. Zuko needed to side with Azula so he can eventually understand what he did wrong and understand his true destiny. and i would sacrifice the growth of Zutara if it meant that he wouldn't have doubts and wonder "what if." ): he definitely has no more doubts now.

i think the story is too in depth for there to only be 3 seasons .. some things are rushed so other things can develop. i mean for people who have watched up to Boiling Rock, we only have 5 more episodes left. is that enough to discuss about the White Lotus Society, Ursa, and etc? not enough to develop any ship to its full potential, that's for sure. >_<

hm the term "Kazuko" is a new to me. anyway i will definitely enjoy what i have of them together especially the upcoming episodes.
