Sounds cool so far ! You just have to devellop it to a "real" story level (as I understood, it's just a "project" so far ...
The only critic I'll made is (as a french-belgium comics, and manga-reader) : you should change the camera wiews more often. Fore example, I got the impression that the whole scene at the campus is seen from the same angle ... It gives much more punch and impact to a story if you change completely from one image to another. I got the same critic of a french (sory, I'm a froggy) proffessional for a story I did with a friend...

Yeah, backgrounds are a pain for me, 3D backgrounds are great for a single picture but for a comic sometimes they take me so long to setup, so using pictures (if I can find the right ones) speeds things up...
