Yes, I know I said I'd make the next commission slot public, but I needed a warm-up piece and I wanted to make sure someone commissioned it who I knew would give me a commission I would be happy to get right into. Sekikumo requested his OC, Krysta, turned into a red crystal statue similar to the Gem Girl piece I did a few years ago. It had been a long time since that original piece, but I quickly found myself remembering how fun it is to try to crystalize different parts of the statue.

The enemies that petrify don't come until mid to late-game as it's the most dangerous status ailment in the game: if you don't have a curing item or healer to heal it, you WILL lose. The earliest instance is a fight against a Cockatrice in the main town - it's a mandatory fight and the very first thing it always does upon spawning is use petrifying breath. The instance I love, however, is the Evil Eye boss which comes post-game. The effect looks better in darker environments.
You can also cast petrifying spells as well. The Sorcerer class has a petrifaction ability which I believe is the earliest way to do it: you can use it on the pawns that wander freely throughout the game without consequence. There's also petrifying arrows you can make or buy for archers to use, but I've never tried them. Finally, there's a neat item called the Leaden Globe. It's meant to be combined with other items including petrifying arrows, but if you use it as is, you'll instantly be inflicted with the petrifying status.
