"You need to go over with the strand on the right first... your other right," Laura said as she watched Corin attempt to finish the braid in Strike's tail.

"Dang it, this seemed way easier in my head," Corin laughed. "As if his tail isn't difficult enough to manage already."

"You've almost got it. Just cross those last couple of strands and then you can braid down like normal."

"Sweet, ok. Thanks for your help, Laura. This would have been a disaster without you," Corin said as he hunched down slightly to continue the braid.

"Sure thing! Plus, it's not everyday that I get to come to an expensive fashion show centered around cats with the craziest hair I've ever seen. I wouldn't miss this for anything!"

A moment later, Strike purred softly and shook his head, causing the bell in his mane to jingle.

"I know, I know. You're ready to be done. Just be patient you big flufflewhump," Corin said to Strike. "Laura, can you quickly check and make sure he didn't mess up his mane?" Laura walked around and checked that all the hairbands were in place.

"Yeah, he's good," Laura said while patting Strike on the shoulder.

"Hey, are you guys almost ready? There's only 15 minutes left before they start staging everyone," a voice called from behind. It was Elias. He had gone out to finish registration and bring back Corin's show number.

"Yeah, almost there. Just finishing this braid," Corin said as he knelt down to tie the bell into the end of the tail braid.

"... Hey Corin?" Elias said after a moment.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Do you take constructive criticism?"

"Depends on the constructive criticism you're offering," Corin said with a smile as he turned slightly to look at Elias.

"Then let me ask you... what in the world are you wearing? This is supposed to be the Calvin Klein or the Gucci show of the Shedu world, yet you look like you're just starting your shift as a Santa elf at the mall."

Both Corin and Laura laughed.

"Don't make me laugh like that, geez. You'll make me screw up the braid," Corin said trying to carefully finish tying the tail band. "Anyways, what would you have me wear? A $500 red Ralph Lauren jacket? This show is about the Shedus, not me."

"Fine, if you want to go in front of the Elseviers in those two dollar green tights, then by all means," Elias laughed.

"Oh, I fully intend to," Corin smiled. "Laura, can you grab that brush? We should run it over him one more time before we go."

Laura grabbed the brush and then did one final touch-up before untying Strike.

"He looks awesome, you guys are going to do great!" Laura said excitedly.

"Just pray that Strike doesn't trip over his own tail," Corin joked.

"Oh he'll be fine," Laura assured. "You come lead him, and I'll even hold his tail up while we walk to the staging area."

"That's a great idea, actually," Corin said as he took the lead from Laura.

Corin then walked off with Strike with Laura in tow, softly holding his tail. They headed off in the direction of the bright runway lights, ready to get started.

The theme of this show couldn't have been more perfect for this fancy fluff ball. Very fun to work on! <3
