Description
I had always wanted to put a cockatiel Pokémon in the Nowra Pokédex, with my original concept being a Route 1 Flying type. However, looking back, the Fakemon line I made for that idea felt pretty uninspired. So I scrapped the concept and started over completely! I love how these guys turned out. Meet Nowra's variant of Chatot and its regional evolution, Corstellot!Nowra Pokédex No. 32
Chatot
Nowran Form
Music Note Pokémon
Type: Flying/Electric
HT: 1'04"/0.4m
WT: 3.3lbs./1.5kg
Ability: Early Bird/Tangled Feet (Hidden Ability: Big Pecks)
Pokédex Entry 1: Supercharged electric organs near its vocal cords allow it to sing louder and at a higher pitch at the cost of limiting its ability to mimic human speech.
Pokédex Entry 2: It has a beautiful singing voice that can reach frequencies capable of stunning other Pokémon as if with an electric shock. The similarities in its appearance to Pikachu are entirely coincidental.
Nowra Pokédex No. 33
Corstellot (from chorus+corella+orchestra+stella+parrot)
Symphonic Pokémon
Type: Flying/Electric
HT: 2'11"/0.9m
WT: 53.8lbs./24.4kg
Ability: Early Bird/Tangled Feet (Hidden Ability: Lightning Rod)
Pokédex Entry 1: When it sings, it also does an elaborate dance routine, bobbing its head, flapping its wings, and flaring its plumage in perfect sync with its song's rhythm. Groups of Corstellot are called "orchestras" due to their tendency to harmonize their music together.
Pokédex Entry 2: Its beak and tail channel electrically-induced vibrations that create a melodic humming sound that bass-boosts its music.
Nowran Chatot is based on the cockatiel, and to add subtle hints of the Electric typing, the tail is a lightning bolt-shaped quarter rest and the head is a sixteenth note to imply that this form is shorter and quicker than regular Chatot, who have eighth note-shaped heads. The patterns are like that of real cockatiels, only more simplified and with a slight star shape.
Corstellot's design is based on cockatoos, taking elements primarily from the white cockatoo, pink cockatoo, and the sulfur-crested cockatoo. Its body pattern is meant to resemble a fancy suit like that of a conductor. A conductor of electricity, perhaps? The beak has an appendage attached to it shaped like a treble clef, and the tail's appendage is a bass clef. The head and tail feathers would be musical scales. And if that's not enough musical imagery, the eye and cheek mark make a dotted half note!
Chatot's signature move, Chatter, can be used outside of battle to make music by inputting up to 5 notes. The song that you teach Chatot will play whenever the move is used in battle, and its chance of confusing the opponent will increase with each consecutive use. A Chatot that uses Chatter 20 times will evolve into Corstellot, but only if it is taught a song.
