Description Teenage Snape in his Hogwarts days.

Unfortunately the paper I used for this piece is really low quality, which I didn't realize until I tried to scan it. The scan is HORRIBLE. I tried a million things in Photoshop to fix it, but...nothing can remedy bad quality paper. I slapped a color overlay over it and it managed to bring the quality up...plus it looks kinda cool. At least to me, it does...

SPECS
Pencils ranging from F to 6B on sketchbook paper.
Color added in Photoshop.

Hello!
I can't explain why exactly...But this Snape is a little different from the others... He's interesting, with these eyes and the hair...He is thinking or looking about sth unpleasant, maybe...So -congratulations for it !

this is wonderful!
I love his hair and how it's sort of curly.
and his expression is perfect.
So--so--err... Severus-ey?
he seems very intelligent... but also very much Slytherin
you did a marvelous job of shading!

and concerning that paper...
I think the picture still looks fine; definitely cool
well, anyways, at least you have a scanner, haha.
I don't have a scanner... so I have to take pictures of my drawings and then adjust the photos' lighting a little

well done!

Thank you so much!

I think the bad paper effect gives the pic an antique quality that fits perfectly. The drawing is just wonderful; I specially love his nose and his eyes and eyebrows.

So classy, so handsome, and he has a very pretty hair style.
I don't think it looks bad, it looks like with old paper and more like old portraits.
And his expression is nice, and maybe it sounds a strange, but makes me think in here that he looks here like one of the most intelligent students and a good one also, at Hogwarts.

I love the way you did his Hair.
And you gave his Face a bit of an Aristocrat(Lucius-like), that shows us his mothers' heritage.
Wonderful.

Thank you! About four different leads went into all that. It looks SO much better in real life though...I am so pissed at that paper! LOL.

blue-nadir In reply to STracyArt [2005-12-06 23:47:44 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I don't know - the paper would count as a "happy accident". It gives a lovely old time feel to the drawing. But at least you've learnt your lesson now! Why is it that the best drawings always end up being on the back of used envelopes or in the corners of sketchbook pages?

STracyArt In reply to blue-nadir [2005-12-07 17:16:47 +0000 UTC]

Aw, that's so true! And then you take your awesome doodle and try to blow it up into a full-scale drawing...and it just never works out! You just can't get it to work as well. It's not right.

Yeah I can see where the paper gave you a bit of trouble, I hate drawing paper that gets all fuzzy. (plus graphite drawings are tricky to scan and make look good anyway)
But nice save with the sepia tone. It gives it more of an aged photo look which is cool.
I had an illustration teach tell me whenever I made a mistake, to find a way to make it look on purpose. Plus you find cool little things to add to your style that way XD
But yesh, very squee worthy.

Thanks! I am trying to beef up my graphite ability...try to get things a little more realistic (but still stylized). I just gotta be more careful about the paper I use. Ah well, art is a learning experience, I guess... (It wouldn't bug me so bad if it looked that crappy ON the paper...It's just the scan!!!!)

CANSON DRAWING PAPER = CRAP! D=<
