ooh the feeling of this photo makes me excited! what a moment! Love the technical parts of it as well. Do you prefer a higher aperture number if possible ( I noticed the f/2.8)?

Usually its not at all possible to shoot any higher during shows.. low low is the same for everyone at indoor concerts. Metallica, KISS, etc - are the exceptions, they have lots of light.. but still in that case, I would go 2.8 @ 1/500 - 1/800/s - the DOF is usually not an issue

Okay I see.. when you say "DOF is usually not an issue", do you mean that f/1.8 produces O.K DOF as well or? My concern is Im afraid I will miss out on a lot of focus with f/1.8.. and maybe "miss" the action hehe.

usually you don't need too much in focus, as long as the subject of the frame is in, the rest usually falls right into place

yea, lets cut the technological jazz and go out and shoot instead! I havent got around to shoot any concerts yet but this weekend I did an agility competition. I actually got 20 or so photos sold (much to my surprise!). I have uploaded a couple of photos from it on my recently launched website (my first btw!) If you like you can check it out www.bjornfoto.se I understand that Swedish might not be the ideal language for you but I think you'll manage.

A great capture, indeed. While I would have preferred a little less darnkess and a little more light dominating the shot, I love the way his body breaks the light and that the guitar and his hands become the central element of the photo. Having shot a few gigs myself, I realize how hard, if not next to impossible, it often is to frame the perfect shot, given the changing lighting and often unpredictable moves of the musicians "in the moment". A from me.

Yeah, sometimes too much light makes it.. too much.. if that makes sense. its hard to control
