I guess that depends on your perspective on the beings of the Mythos and Zalgo. Interesting concept, though. If I had to choose, I'd say Azathoth. Nyarlathotep seems more....suave. Less random and chaotic.

If you ask me, Zalgo should be treated as an independent entity. It's up to individual writers and artists whether or not to associate him with the Cthulhu Mythos, but seeing as he was conceived independently he should be treated as such. For example, the King in Yellow (an avatar of the being Darleth dubbed "Hastur" which we otherwise no little about) was Robert W. Chambers's invention and thus conceived independently from Lovecraft's subsequent work. So rather than making him an avatar of Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Azathoth, etc., which would diminish the importance of Chambers's god, Lovecraft instead treated him as a distinct entity. After all, the total number of Outer Gods is unknown, not to mention Other Gods and Great Old Ones.

I agree with you on that. That's why I said "If I have to choose." If I didn't have to choose, I'd say "independent", for the same reasons you've given here. This is an interesting discussion. It sounds like an Eldritch Abomination version of what the Greeks must have done when they encountered Egyptian gods and mapped and related them to their own pantheon. (They considered Thoth to be Hermes, Hathor to be Aphrodite, Amun to be Zeus, and so on.)

It's funny; I've since read 'The King in Yellow' (the book by Chambers), and I'm no longer of the opinion that Hastur and the King in Yellow are the same being, even if they both appear in the play. Hastur even appears in his own story in the book that doesn't have the King in Yellow and he seems to be a very different being. The King in Yellow is a surreal, meme-like being that is associated with art and the unnatural and black stars, but Hastur seems to be a protector of sorts and is associated with nature and animals and stars in the sky (which makes me wonder whether his true form is that of a star). Hastur acts as a protector to the character in 'The Madamoiselle D'Ys', similiar to how he was depicted in Ambrose Bierce's work (Bierce was the writer who created Hastur as a benevolent god of shepards, Chambers then borrowed the character of Hastur for 'The King in Yellow'.) However according to August Derleth and later writers of the Cthulhu Mythos, the King in Yellow is considered to be an avatar of Hastur, who is an evil, tentacled, octopus deity and half-brother to Cthulhu. It just goes to show the dangers of mixing up different mythoi's canons without regard to how the characters have been defined according to their own canons.
I'm actually not a total purist; I feel like the Carcosa Mythos and the Cthulhu Mythos and the Zalgo Mythos can interact, but I think the characters should be defined by the canon of their own mythos without incorporating explanations that rely upon other mythoi.
