i'm very much interested in Kurzweil's ideas about an emerging Singularity, artificial intelligence, etc. and in my own mind relate to it McKenna's thoughts about the transcendental object at the end of time. Such an object, event, epoch, whatever you want to call it, may be something that exists now (if time is simply a construct we use to facilitate experience). Thus, the Singularity, the transcendental epoch at the end of time, is now.you dig?

This picture does capture the idea of the Singularity. I highly doubt that the epoch, or singularity, would exist in a physical form on Earth as of now. However, if it was there in the end and the beginning then it surely will exist again. But to say it exists now spells out doom for life as we know it. Well, that was the general idea in the book I had finished reading about two weeks ago.
