Okay before I begin,I want to thank ~Sarah-the-ninja-101 ,
For letting me fix up this base,
I also want her to know that I'm not just,
Attacking her and this is not just geared towards her,
A lot of people do this I just found this base,
Easy to work with.
Pixel art is srs biznez just like CG's just like flash movies,
I'm sick of us being looked at like fucking,
Second class citizens on DeviantART,
It's true there have been some strides in the,
Right direction lately but by the public,
A lot of people look down on us because:
1) They think we are a bunch of tracers,
2) A lot of bases and dolls I've seen lately look like,
The person took five minutes to complete it.
If you're going to trace a base first off,
I hope you've got permission from the OG artist,
Or you're gonna be in a world of hurt when you're caught,
(Is speaking from experience)
Second off spend some quality time with the piece,
Why are you in such a hurry to post?
Wouldn't you rather post a decent base/doll,
Rather than look like a complete noob?
Finally there is a difference between a,
BASE and a COLOURING BOOK,
Bases are usually COMPLETELY NUDE,
Meaning there shouldn't be a bunch of shit,
Covering up the actual anatomic structure.
If you want to add in optional hair,
Or an accessory or two go for it,
But when your base is fully clothed,
With hair, accessories, a house, a car, the fucking moon,
Then it's not a base anymore,
It has now entered the DOLL category.
I'm getting sick of kids who think they're cool,
By tracing a pretty anime girl in a frilly dress,
Okay, whatever go do that on your own time,
But don't post it and think you're legit,
Because guess what you aren't.
I've been pixeling for three years,
So I know what I'm talking about,
It's a HUGE slap in the face,
To not just the pixel community,
But to me personally,
You can't believe how much I hurt for new comers,
WHO DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN,
A BASE AND A DOLL AND ART THEFT.
I'm not saying there's a right and wrong way,
To go about pixel art,
I'm just saying there is a right and wrong category,
For your piece of "ahhhhht",
You're basically putting yourself in the same group,
As the sonic recolourers and art thieves,
And believe me those aren't groups,
You want to be associate with.

And please for the love of GOD,
Save your bases and dolls as either,
.Png, .Gif, or .Tiff files,
Because OBV .Jpg or .Jpeg pixel piece,
LOOK LIKE SHIT and are difficult to work with!

To avoid art theft and stuff, I find it best to just draw them myself.. I like it when other people do that too. x3;
But I'm new to this world of dolls and bases. I don't really get a lot of things, like.. If there's a specific number of skin shades and stuff. x3;
But that's not what's important.
You know what I'm really sick of, is the people that make bases of official art, like from Higurashi and Lucky Star. There's no way they got permission, but they don't get in trouble..

When it comes to shading your base,
Or leaving it blank that is your choice,
I've seen bases with 10 shades,
While I've made bases only using 3,
Stuff like that comes down to preference.

Using mainstream art is popular,
And I will admit I've submitted to it,
But you're right there is no way in hell,
Anyone could get permission,
Even if they did they'd be paying out big money lol

What's more, it's something really easy to tell when people make bases of art that isn't theirs 'cause the anatomy's off or there's something off with parts that were clothed in the picture. >: It makes for ugly bases.

Of stealing art or being unoriginal,
It's just not something I'm trying,

i can understand if the ARE a noob like just starting cause i was like that then i woundered why mine didn't look like others so i slowly became better and doing what i do now~

i know you said that the rant wasnt directed towards her, but if you MUST KNOW, i asked her to make the base/doll whatever the hell youd like to call it (whatever floats yer boat). and just so you know, i LOVE IT. i dont care if its still got the effing hair on it, she put the time and effort into that piece for me. so what if your mad that theres still clothes and hair on it; she didnt make it for you. im not trying to piss you off or offend you or anything, im just trying to take a stand for a really great artist and friend on this website who was only doing a good thing for a friend, in which we were each others first friend on here back over 2 years ago. im very grateful that she did such a thing for me, in fact. im not asking you to apologize or anything (cause i still know that you didnt direct the fire towards her) but take the facts into play. if you simply must, then hell, blame me for even aking her to make the base/doll thing in the first place.

I not making traced bases anymore. and When/If I start doing it again they will be 100% original(maybe 90% because of copied poses). The only reason I really think I made traced bases is because my own art wasn't that good
