This craft will be used in this series.
Captured in KSP using Kronal Vessel Viewer.

ITNERIA SPACEPLANE

Crew Capacity: 8

Effective Payload: 17 tonnes (LKO)

(Based on a design produced by Kerbal-Empire of the same name. Here is a prototype in KSP I made earlier.

When work first began on the SSTO known as Itneria, many experts believed it would make rockets and shuttles obsolete. Surely this reusable design, with its ability to take off and land using runways, would replace all other methods of getting into orbit. However, once Itneria was complete, three things became apparent: the craft was incredibly expensive, it wasn't as cost effective as first imagined, and it had a very limited payload capacity. Ultimately, only one Itneria was built, and it was simply called 'the Itneria'. Two others had been planned, but budget constraints meant they could not be built.

Despite these initial setbacks, the Itneria proved that it was a very useful spacecraft. It was reliable, adaptable, accessible and, most importantly, flexible. It could carry a wide variety of payloads to a wide variety of LKO orbits, and the added benefit of being able to stow things away meant it could be used to bring debris and experiments back to the surface. The UNSI began making money by using it to ferry tourists and non-UNSI astronauts to orbit. The ride was more comfortable than a Kuran Shuttle launch and less frightening, so the media dubbed it the 'spaceliner'.

As the Far Horizons project took shape, it was decided that the Itneria could be used to deliver VASIMIR transfer stages to orbit. These would be used to send certain parts of the mission ahead of the main spacecraft. Additionally, the Itneria could carry food and crew supplies to Far Horizons ship. It would even be able to deliver the crew itself.

I have already used it to deliver a VASIMIR transfer stage, weighing 16,000kg, to a Laythe plane I launched into orbit using my Energia replica. You will see screenshots of this, perhaps this weekend I will be able to upload them.

Yeah, they look a little odd, a VASIMIR stage pushing a plane for Laythe.

Well, whatever gets the job done. It doesn't matter much how it looks. At least that's what i'm thinking.
