Description You never dreamed you'd have to live your life so guarded
'Cause they'll find a way to make you feel discarded
I'm not afraid of tomorrow
I'm only scared of myself
Feels like my insides on fire
And I'm looking through the eyes of someone else

the song is a tad angsty and reminds me of the music I listened to when I first discovered rock/pop-punk music in middle school, and didn't know the difference between a hardcore band and a mild one (not to degrade anyone's rock music preference, this band's sound in particular isn't personally one of my favorites), but the lyrics are pretty accurate...

semi-vent art; a lot has been going on it real life--hence to lack of art updates around here--both good and bad. I have a lot of family issues that range from being just flat annoying to incredibly stressful, as well as personal struggles with trying to get myself organized artistically, socially and emotionally.

I just feel like a lot of stuff is happening at once. On the plus side, I finally got my driver's license, so that's definitely lifted a great weight off my shoulders.

bold lines and thick red outlline (yes, one side is supposed to be thicker than the other) inspired by the illustrations from one of my favorite books, "A Coyote's in the House" by Elmore Leonard. It's an incredibly fun book to read and I'm very glad I came across it as a kid, and the bold greyscale illustrations with hints of red are very interesting, especially to an aspiring artist.

also, the blue necklace is the same hourglass from the show American Dragon: Jake Long episode, "Hero of the Hourglass." Yes, I still watch that show and it is still one of my favorites; it saved me from a lot of bouts of depression and self-doubting when I was younger and I thought the show was original enough that I liked the story plot as well as the comedy/lesson-learning aspect of the show. I hope to one day take a long trip to Michael's Craft store and make a pretty closely-accurate replica of the necklace for myself.
The show meant a lot to me (and I got/still get teased for liking it constantly) and I like to show my appreciation for it through little hints here and there, since I don't draw as much AD:JL fanart.
