Description
Here's a bit of an older watercolour I did of Howl (of Howl's Moving Castle fame). I painted this design onto a fan which I sold (cry) and unfortunately didn't get any documentation of the finished fan but at least I have the practice painting for it! I really like the colours in this one... in the full version, Howl is chasing Calcifer (hence the firelight reflected onto his face and wings) but I cropped it due to crappy editing I had done in photoshop... I really need to rescan the picture but it is in a different city than me at the moment.[Watercolour and Acrylic, ~4 hours]

I like the picture. I don't like the ending of the movie thought.

Thanks!
Yeah, the movie ending was a bit rushed. I liked that they ended up together, though.

Indeed. Kinda rushed ending though, IMO.

Wow! What was the occasion for the fan?
I love Howl! Are you a Diana Wynne Jones fan? I am!

I made 3 small fans based on Hayao Miyazaki movies (Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Mononoke Hime) which I sold at Anime North in 2006. I haven't actually read the book the movie was based on, unfortunately! ;_;

How cool! Were you able to charge enough so that it was wroth it? I always feel about handcrafts that it would be hard to charge enough.
Oh, the story was so much fun. All of hers are. Oh, actually I haen't read "Howl's Moving Castle," but I read the sequel, which was a complete riot. I don't remember the name of it, though.

Cool!
I think I made about 65$ on all three pieces put together, so a little over 20$ each. It's not even minimum wage for me, but it was more than I was expecting to make (it was an auction)!

That's good! Whenever I knit and think about selling my stuff, I cringe at how little I could make for them, considering how expensive the supplies are and how much time it takes to make them. Well, I should probably improve my knitting before thinkng about selling anyway LOL

Well, my materials were pretty cheap. The fans only cost about a dollar to buy in Chinatown (in Toronto) and the paints I've had forever so they are basically free. So I had a big profit margin. But each fan probably took about 10 hours total, from planning to finished product, so I was getting like 2$/hour for my work
