Description
The famous DD Vogue is coming to HVA! Wanted to make sure I got a sketch up of her so I didn't forget. This poor mare... She's passed through at least four hands. She will end her days here, for sure. I'd like to get her in a few more shows but, since I would definitely consider her an elderly mare at this point, we don't want to push her too hard! Then again, don't want to send her straight to brooding before she goes to the heavenly grazing grounds. -snuggles- Well, here is the first sketch. Can't decide if I'm going to keep her reference sketchy or go balls-to-the-wall with it. She certainly would deserve that, poor thing!!!

If you guys have any pictures, offspring, or information about this mare, I need to go around and collect all of it. Any help would be appreciated!

Personality: Vogue has always been described as a very athletic and energetic mare; her brief time at Holcomb Valley has only seen to validate the rumors. Vogue is an elegant mare who knows how to grab your attention. Her tendency to break out in a high-legged trot whenever someone walks by often earns her a carrot or two and certainly some validated 'oohs' and 'ahs'. With age she has mellowed though she still tends to sulk if things don't go her way. Vogue has been around the block and knows what is expected of her. However, she won't neglect an opportunity to take advantage of an inexperienced rider. Her energy levels are still high, so we will continue to show her if/when we can until the old lady tells us she is ready to retire permanently.

BRIEF HISTORY:
Originally bred by Hazel-rah of Double Dance Stables in Canada, DD Vogue was sold to EliteWarHorse of Trestalian Stables. Vogue was then sold to RinaKisaragi of Plumtree Stables in beautiful Switzerland. Out of place amongst a barn full of Nordanners, the Friesian mare was sold to Braemoor . Holcomb Valley Acres made an offer to purchase the aging, yet still stunning, Vogue from them after seeing the mare at a show in North Carolina but, at the time, we were turned down. However, a little less than a year later the stables approached us. As their attention was shifting from raising horses to becoming a premium dog kennel, Oakland Kennels asked if we'd like to take the Friesian mare on. Of course we were thrilled at the news, and immediately began preparations to get the mare to her new home in California's San Bernardino mountains. She now lives happily and comfortably on our grounds, enjoying the relaxed life of an occasional show horse and broodmare.
