With the king candidates at the helm, the Glenmorian herd - royals and commoners alike - followed in order of rank as Lord Gerald led them to the apple orchards where the next phase of the Trials was to be held. The procession continued past the flourishing gardens of young, freshly planted saplings, instead heading to the very edge where the very first cultivated apple trees had been tended. Long had those orchards been abandoned for their branches, some that had been planted during the reign of the kings of old, were far past their prime and no longer bore fruit or had simply died from old age.
