"My very own Tyto!?" Enn could hardly contain her excitement as her grandmother, Nim, turned and revealed the owlet that she had chosen for her granddaughter.

"Your very own Tyto," Nim repeated, her elderly voice soft despite her own excitement. Enn's hands raised to her mouth and tears welled in her eyes. The draco was absolutely stunning, her soft white belly feathers fading into a gradient of soft silver and charcoal. Her white moon face was tilted toward Enn and the owlet's large, golden eyes stared curiously back at the girl.

"Oh Nim, she's beautiful..." Enn's voice trailed off, so overwhelmed by emotion. Nim's lips creased into a smile, sending lively wrinkles dancing across a face aged by a liftetime of laughter and kindness. "May I touch her?" Enn hesitantly raised a hand toward the owlet, who leaned away from the girl's hand. Enn frowned. "Does she not like me?" Nim chuckled and put the owlet down on the ground. "The trust of a Stryx must be earned, my little Enn. It will take time and patience but, when you do, you will have a friend for life." Enn nodded in understanding, although she couldn't help but slump down into the chair behind her in disappointment.

"How do I make her trust me now?" The girl asked as her grandmother walked across the aviary to the supply room. After some shuffling about, the elderly woman returned with a large mouse in hand. "In my experience, their stomachs are a good place to start."

Hell. It's the way to my heart. Why not the way to a Stryx's heart?!

I introduce to you Enn and Nim. Enn is Sitsu's handler and Nim is Enn's grandmother. They are both Noktus, worshippers of the moon goddess Nokt. Noktus come from a matriarchal society, so it only seemed appropriate that Enn's grandmother would be the one to award her with her very own Stryx! Nim is an integral part of Enn's story, which I hope to reveal more of as we go. Nim is a retired rider who now spends her days caring for and breeding high quality owlets for her tribe. Nim and Enn live in a very small but cozy apartment inside of the aviary. Hopefully I can get myself to design a sketchy layout of the aviary so it makes more sense!!!!
