*WARNING! POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT READ THIS DESCRIPTION IF YOU HAVE NOT YET SEEN ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY AND DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED OF A MAJOR SCENE!Remember that Jurassic World Meme I made several years ago? The one where it depicts the scene where the raptors join up with the Indominus Rex and I said that was pretty much the biggest "Oh Shit" scene ever in movie history? Here's the link to it: Jurassic World I-Rex and Raptors Meme
Well, turns out I was dead wrong.
Now that Rogue One has been out for roughly a month now, I feel it is alright to reveal stuff about the movie since pretty much everyone's seen it twice by now. And by God, did the ending scene in the movie with Darth Vader truly make it the greatest "Oh Shit moment" in film history! (At least in my opinion).
Now Darth Vader is supposed to be a very frightening character. But the trouble is, unless you’ve dug deeper into Star Wars lore than the average fan has, you’ve probably never seen or understand just why Vader is such a heart-stopping terror. Even when he’s Force choking Imperial peons or fighting against his son, he’s really holding something back. Which is why I’m still trying to pick my jaw off the floor after seeing a truly demonic Vader cut down Rebel soldiers in the ending of Rogue One.
I mean, DID YOU FRIKKIN' SEE THAT SCENE! Vader ignites his red lightsaber in a pitch black hallway (that's pretty much the moment where you realize hell is about to break loose), and then proceeds to cut down and slaughter everyone in the room. People die, and they die horribly. He even cuts a dude he levitates to the ceiling in half! Then he uses the Force to pull the blasters out of the remaining soldier's hands, and cuts them all down. Just as he's about to kill the last guy he passes the Death Star plans through a jammed door to another soldier on the other side, then Vader impales the soldier, forces the door open and kills two more grunts as the Rebel soldier with the plans manages to escape onto the Tantive IV Blockade Runner. Which then detaches from the Rebel command ship and escapes into hyperspace (which leads into Episode IV: A New Hope).
I’ve watched that scene in theaters twice now, and both times I found myself recoiling out of both awe and horror, saying, “Oh shit!” over and over again. This scene alone really makes you realize not only how powerful Darth Vader is, but also how terrifying he is when you remember that he's evil. Rogue One makes how much of a threat Vader presents not only dreadful, but also intimate. All you have to do is just put yourself in the shoes of one of those doomed Rebel soldiers, and you realize this take on Vader is a whole new level of scary. (I actually had a nightmare about it after I saw the film for the first time, and it was pretty frightening!) It makes losing a hand seem like child’s play (and it really is given how quickly you can get a robotic one in the Star Wars Universe).
Now like I said before, while Vader was indeed terrifying in this scene, unless you know more about Star Wars than the average fan (as in you've read the books, games, etc.), you'd actually know this isn't exactly the first time Darth Vader's been portrayed as such a menace. If you've read the Star Wars comics (both old and new), Vader did shit like this all the time (no kidding, in one comic he slaughtered an entire battalion of Rebel soldiers and even destroyed several attacking starfighters all while he was on the ground). So don't think that this scene now makes Vader a total badass, he's always been a badass. And the ending of Rogue One finally gives average Star Wars fans a taste of Darth Vader's true power, when he truly lets loose and does not hold back whatsoever.
Darth Vader might still be a Teddy Bear to some people (for some apparent reason, but to the life of me I'll never know), but there’s no denying now that he’s practically made of evil. I want to say that it makes him so much cooler, but I almost feel bad thinking about it.
I do not own this image.

What made the scene awesome aside from Vader, himself, was the music that was playing in the background!

I think the reason why people keep comparing this scene to something from Friday the 13th is because, like Jason, Vader casually walks through a group of people and brutally slaughtering them without saying a single word. Both characters do this sort of thing on a near daily basis, so it really isn't hard for the audience to feel reminded.

I suppose that does make sense.
It just feels weird comparing a Dark Lord of the Sith with a serial killer. Granted they're both doing the same thing and slaughtering people, but Vader isn't some mindless murderer and there's always a reason for why he kills people. Whereas Jason murders pretty much anyone who's closeby.

There's actually a method to Jason's madness. He believes that he's killing everyone to "punish" them for the death of his mother. It also doesn't really help that he was bullied as a kid because of his deformities, so it's also his way of getting payback.

Okay, but Jason's motives to kill are all just revenge. Darth Vader kills people because they stand against both him and the Empire. Although in one comic where he briefly returned to Tatooine to negotiate with Jabba the Hutt into assisting the Empire, Vader did go and slaughter an entire village of Sand People (for pretty obvious reasons). But besides that one instance, Vader mainly kills people because he believes them to be a threat to the Empire (and kills Imperial officers who are either incompetent and/or have failed him).
Both have entirely different motives for killing people, and Darth Vader is just at a much grander scale than Jason given how much more powerful he is. That's primarily why I feel that its so weird comparing a Dark Lord of the Sith with a serial killer, because Vader's just in a league of his own.

Eh, I don't really like how people are comparing Vader's actions in this scene to that of a fictional serial killer like Jason Vorhees. A petty serial killer compared with a Sith Lord is not as good of a comparison as one would think.
Because if you've ever read any of the books (whether they be comic or novel) with Darth Vader in them, you'd know that he's actually done shit like this all the time.
Now I'm not blaming you or anything for not knowing this, I'm just giving you a little insight by showing you that this scene isn't the most badass thing Vader has done (in the movies maybe, but in other Star Wars media nope). In fact this scene actually gives average Star Wars fans such as yourself a taste of what Vader is really like in other Star Wars media.

I wasn't calling you an oblivious fool for that. It was for comparing Darth Vader with Jason Vorhees, very bad comparison.
Uh, no there wasn't any blood. There's never any bloodshed in Star Wars when a lightsaber is used. That's because all lightsabers are superheated, so every wound they inflict are instantly cauterized and sealed, so there's never any blood.

Exactly, you see the pitch black hallway and then hear Darth Vader's breathing and wonder, "oh man, what's he gonna do?" Then the moment he ignites his red lightsaber, you know he's not fucking around.

I too saw Rogue One twice. And oh, my God. I agree with you. This one scene really redefines Vader. The moment he ignited his lightsaber, I thought to myself, "those Rebels are totally fucked."

Now I wouldn't exactly say that the scene "redefines" Vader. If you've read the Star Wars comics (both old and new), Vader did that shit all the time (no shit, he's slaughtered an entire battalion of rebel soldiers and even destroyed several attacking starfighters). It's not that he's suddenly a badass now, he's always been a badass. And the ending of Rogue One finally gives average Star Wars fans a taste of Darth Vader's true power, when he truly lets loose and does not hold back whatsoever.

Indeed.
Although it's understandable why his scenes were so short. It may have been a Star Wars movie, but it wasn't focused around the main characters like all the other ones are.

This is actually how the Rebels originally stole the Death Star Plans in the old Star Wars canon (before Disney made it non canon):

I mean it's an interesting story and all, and certainly complicated. But it part of me thinks that it's just TOO complicated to the point where you couldn't make a movie based off of the events. Which is why I kind of like the changes they made in Rogue One.

yeah, it was basically a suicide mission, and it makes sense; many Bothans died to steal the plans for the second Death Star.
