A/n: Time for a new journey my dudes. This will be a RWBY Male Reader Insert (There are many like it but this one is mine) if the title didn't give it away. I've been planning this for awhile just ask my dude FanFicAdan and TheNessY21 they've known about this for awhile, so to those who will be reading this thank you. From the bottom of my heart thank you for sticking around and reading my stuff, I've already got Volumes 1-3 ready in a notebook....so yeah. Let's get started.
Image is not mine
~~~
In the city of Vale in a quaint dust shop by the name of: Dust Til Dawn. A young girl enthusiastically read the weapons magazine she had in hand, she had no idea how long she had been in the store isle; she didn't care she was too engaged in her reading material.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?" A voice asked, the teen let out a grunt as she was disturbed from her weapons. Making a mental note of the page she was currently on, she reached for the headphones resting on her neck and placed them over her ears.
The sound of a rock song being sung by a female vocalist filled her ears. It was a bit loud, but it was better than hearing the chatter coming from the other shop goers.
Ruby Rose wasn't one for human interaction, while she was capable of it she didn't like it very much. Her sister was the sociable one, not her; she preferred being in the background and tinkering with her weapon.
Ruby felt a hand on her shoulder, then the next moment she was turned around. Coming face to face with an older man in a black suit, gesturing for her to remove her headphones.
"Yes?" Ruby asked.
"I said hands in the air, now!" He demanded, Ruby wasn't sure if this man was robbing her or trying to goad her into a new dance craze. So she asked for clarification.
"Are you...robbing me?"
"Yes!" The man exclaimed, seemingly annoyed with her.
Ruby let out an exaggerated "Ooooh". Truth be told Ruby did have another interest other than weapons....Ruby acted fast, kicking the man across the chest at blinding speeds sending him flying towards the front of the store.
Ruby was an aspiring Huntress in training....
Roman Torchwick, Master thief extraordinaire or so he'd tell others; honestly preferred to work alone. Trusting only a very select few, and selling his services to whoever paid him the most.
The thief watched as the men he hired cleaned out the old man's Dust shop. Reaching into his pocket to pull out a cigar and lighting it, this heist would be easy. The cops weren't the brightest here in Vale, and no Huntsmen or Huntresses would get here on time. It's the perfect crime...so long as there aren't any complications.
HYAAA!
Roman rotated his head slightly just in time to see one of his hired men fly past him, and into a shelf of the merchandise he'd planned to steal. Another of the men he'd hired rushed towards whoever attacked his similarly dressed colleague.
Roman turned away knowing already how this was going to end. He kept the cigar in his mouth, and held his trusty cane in one hand. The sound of glass shattering signaling him that whoever was attacking them wasn't afraid of a scrap.
Now the master thief had seen his fair share of Huntsmen and Huntresses of all shapes and sizes, but he never expected to see a young girl in a red cape with a mechanical scythe.
"Okay...." Said Roman turning to his henchmen "Get her."
The men rushed the young girl, easily being taken down by the hooded huntress. Roman sighed as each man fell, regretting his choice in hiring these men from some local nightclub.
Roman pointed his cane at the you girl, seeing an opening as she deflected an attack from one of the hired guns.
"Sorry little Red." Roman pulled the trigger, his cane firing off a flare like round right at the young girl. Her face contorted into one of pure shock as she saw it approach, she wouldn't be able to react in time.
Roman saw the briefest flash of steel just as his round detonated. He wasn't convinced, smoke filled the street but that wasn't an indicator that she was dead.
When the smoke cleared Roman's suspicions were confirmed. Crouched in front of the girl was a male about the same age, the thief glanced up and down his body trying to figure out who he was. Though he didn't recognize him; the (H/c) colored hair, a prominent (F/c) colored jacket, and a pair of matching falchions.
Roman smiled....
A new face in town?
~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~
(Y/n) wasn't one for spur of the moment decisions, he was someone logical, his friends would even define him as cold and calculating. Though even he had a conscience, he turned back to the girl he had shielded.
"You okay?" She nodded in confirmation allowing the male to straighten himself out, however he wouldn't let his guard down yet; not against someone who'd casually shoot a young girl.
"You wanna explain yourself, Mr. Torchwick?" (Y/n) asked the thief.
Roman smiled, casually letting the cigar fall from his mouth before crushing it under his boot.
"My reputation precedes me, but please Mr. Torchwick was my father." He said letting his eyes dart around the surrounding area for a moment.
"Well, Red and friend it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around..."(Y/n) tensed he knew something was coming, he could feel it. "I believe this is where we part ways."
Without warning Torchwick's cane fired off another round directly in front of the pair's feet. (Y/n) was sent back a few feet while the girl stayed unmoving only being bothered by the dust that the blast kicked up.
(Y/n) shook his head, his aura flared around his body indicating it doing its job of protecting him.
"There!" The girl exclaimed, (Y/n)'s eyes followed her hand to see the thief climbing up a nearby fire escape.
"Let's go." (Y/n) commanded.
"Wait." She said, the male watched as she turned to the elderly shopkeep. "You okay if we go after him?" He wordlessly nodded, signaling her to rush after the fleeing criminal.
(Y/n) followed suit, climbing up the fire escape as fast as he could.
"Hey!" She yelled catching the criminal's attention.
"Persistent."
The pair ready themselves knowing they were in for a tough fight, then the roar of an engine filled the quiet city night; a bullhead rising from what seemed like street level.
"End of the line kids!" Said Roman, he fished out a dust crystal from his pocket and tossed it over to the pair before firing a round at it, (Y/n) acted quickly shielding the young girl with his body from the incoming blast.
As soon as the round made contact, it detonated. Covering the rooftop with a thick layer of black smoke. Roman jumps into the waiting bullhead, laughing as he admired his handiwork.
Then as the some cleared, Roman caught sight of a flash of purple. The pair who he had thought to have incinerated were being cared for within a purple barrier, and with them was an older bespectacled blonde woman.
"We've got a Huntress!" Roman announced as the blonde huntress fired off several bolts of energy striking the ship, forcing it to lower slightly.
(Y/n) watched as Roman ran into the cockpit as a new figure replaced him, he could barely make out the person but he was sure it was a woman.
The mystery woman's dress lit up, as well as the intricate designs on her sleeves. Now what could only be described as liquid fire appeared from underneath the feet of the blonde huntress forcing her to take evasive maneuvers.
(Y/n) did not stay useless, as he soon got up and began returning fire with balls of....well fire. The woman deflected them easily with no signs of effort.
"Cocky SOB huh?" The male's eyes briefly flashed a solid orange, as he willed the shards of broken concrete into projectile weapons. He fired them at the ship, some of them digging into the hull of the bullhead but not enough to bring it down.
I like the way you think...
(Y/n) turned, and smiled. The blonde huntress had gotten behind him, and hovering behind her were shards of glass. She willed the glass to strike the bullhead, the mystery woman firing off bolts of fire in an attempt to stop the attack. However it seemed as if the shards were a living creature, it contorted avoiding the balls of fire before digging into the bullhead.
Then gunshots began to ring out, the girl from earlier had gotten back to her feet and began unloading her entire magazine into the bullhead. The mystery woman flicked her hand, an orange light began building up from underneath the young girl's feet.
(Y/n) rushed in pushing her out of the way just as a tower of liquid fire burst forth. The male inspected the girl who was just looking at him, he took it as a sign to get up. He offered her a hand, and watched as the bullhead flew off.
There are some dangerous people in Vale...
He made sure to take note of that. The girl seemed to be fine as she immediately began to fawn over the blonde huntress.
"You're a Huntress..." The aforementioned huntress looks at her "Can I have your autograph?"
~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~|~
(Y/n) new that he'd be experiencing new things when he moved from Argus, though he didn't really think getting detained was one of the things he'd get to experience in the kingdom of Vale.
The male glanced over to the girl who was sitting right next to him, he could tell she wasn't used to getting reprimanded for helping people. (Y/n) sighed "Welcome to the real world kid." He thought.
"I hope that you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady." The blonde huntress began "You put yourself and others in great danger."
"They started it!" The girl exclaimed, apparently her appearance wasn't the only thing that was young.
(Y/n) watched as the huntress paced in front of them, her eyes not moving from the tablet she held in her hands. He crossed his arms, he really didn't want to get in trouble not this early after the move at least.
"If it were up to me you'd be sent home with a pat on the back." The girl beside him perked up as did he, maybe the huntress wasn't going to chew them out. "And a slap on the wrist!" Maybe not...to make her point she punctuated her sentence with a quick smack from her riding crop onto the table top.
"Can I take my slap on the wrist and leave?" (Y/n) asked.
"As much as I'd like to do that; there is someone here who'd like to meet you two." The huntress steps aside to allow a man to walk in, he was around her height and clad in mostly forest green attire. (Y/n)'s attention went to his hands which held a plate of cookies and a mug filled with some sort of brown liquid.
"Ruby Rose." He began leaning in close to her face "You...have silver eyes."
Ruby shuffled for a moment and glanced in the direction of (Y/n) who shrugged, he didn't know what was happening.
"Now...where did you learn to do this?" He asked gesturing to the tablet with a recording of Ruby fighting off armed thugs. (Y/n) let out a whistle as he admired the technique Ruby displayed with her scythe.
"Signal Academy." She replied.
"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"
"Well one teacher in particular." The man's eyes brushed over me, he gestured towards the plate of cookies.
"Thanks, but me and sweets aren't the best combo." I replied. He seemed to leave me be, at least for the time being. Ruby on the other hand was stuffing her face with the baked goods.
He turns his sights on Ruby once again. "Forgive my surprise, it's just that I've only seen one other scythe wielder of that skill before, a dusty old crow...
Ruby's reply was a mumbled garble with a side of cookie crumbs and bits of chocolate. The huntress was not in the least bit pleased while the man smiled, albeit forced.
Ruby wiped her mouth as she swallowed its contents before speaking. "Sorry, that's my uncle Qrow." (Y/n)'s attention was caught so he remained silent as Ruby told her story. "I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing."
(Y/n) let out a snicker, catching the attention of those in the room. "Sorry, Qrow; wing. I just found that funny."
The man turned to the male. "Do you know who I am?"
"You're Professor Ozpin." Said (Y/n) "The Headmaster of Beacon Academy."
"Correct." Ozpin took a sip from his mug. "What else?"
"I'm sorry?" The male tiled his head in confusion, what did he mean by "what else"?
"He's your benefactor." Chimed in the blonde huntress. "He's the reason you're getting into Beacon Academy."
(Y/n) glanced at the man, he seemed off. Though a free education was hard to pass up on.
"Miss Rose."
"Y-Yes!" Ruby straightened out immediately, she did this in such a hurry that she managed to knock the plate of cookies into the air, and into the face of the male beside her.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, I'm such a klutz...I-"
"It's fine." (Y/n) began as he removed the plate from his person, then proceeding to pick up a cookie which had managed to land atop his head. "Klutz's are usually the ones with some hidden skill."
The male blew on the cookie before handing it to Ruby. "And your hidden skill just happens to be fighting." Ruby smiled as she accepted the cookie offered to her, (Y/n) couldn't help but do the same.
"(Y/n)." Ozpin spoke up "I have more things to discuss with Miss Rose, but you're free to go." (Y/n) cocked his head to the side.
"Really? That's it?" He couldn't believe it to be honest, was the Headmaster of Beacon Academy really this lenient with his students? But it was the way out he was looking for, so who was he to complain?
"Yes." (Y/n) blinked once more in disbelief then stood up and headed for the door.
"Wait."
The male turned seeing his red hooded friend on her feet. "What's your name?" She asked.
"You can call me (Y/n), (Y/n) Nikos."
My face was currently contorted into an expression of unimaginable restraint, as I explained the sequence of events that I had to deal with a few nights ago. My friend beside me: Dan Glacies let his joy be known to everyone on the damn Bullhead as his laughter was most likely louder than the engines at this point.
"It's not that funny." I groaned.
"Not that funny?" He echoed wiping a tear from his eye. "You're supposed to be the responsible one between us, instead you picked a fight with one of the most notorious criminals in Vale, then got thrown in the slammer!"
I failed to see the point of his argument. He seemed to have noticed too, Dan took a moment to compose himself before speaking once again. "(Y/n) I'm just glad you're finally taking a page or two from my book." He said, his arm draping itself over my shoulders.
I promptly removed his arm, and crossed my own. "I am not taking pages out of your book."
Dan deflated slightly, and sighed. "Yeah, well. You're probably right, after all there wasn't a single cute girl in that story."
"Well...there was a girl." I said referring to Ruby, the Headmaster did want to speak with her. I never did find out why, I just hope she wasn't expelled from her Combat School.
"Oh yeah?" Dan said raising an eyebrow. "What was her name?" I looked back to see a confident smirk decorating his face. "Her name was Ruby, Ruby Rose."
"Yes?" The sudden vocalization sent Dan jumping into me and violating any semblance of personal space I had. After managing to claw Dan off my face I found myself face to face with the same girl I had met that night, accompanied by a taller blond.
"Ruby." I greeted.
"Hey (Y/n)."
"What're you doing here? And would you get off me!" I exclaimed referring to Dan. Who let out a sheepish laugh before dismounting off me.
"Well...I got into Beacon." She replied.
"But you're like 12." Dan began. The blond behind her let out a chuckle as she stepped forward and draped an arm over Ruby.
"Ruby's 15." Said the blond "I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister." She eyed both Dan and I to the point where I considered taking a step back.
"I'm glad I can finally meet the dashing hero who saved my little sister." Ruby let out a groan. "Yang, I told you stop embarrassing me!"
Yang however ignored her sister's pleas, and pressed on. Telling stories about how Ruby was her "wittle innocent sister"; her words not mine.
Dan let out a whistle. "She got into Beacon a whole two years earlier, we're in the presence of a child prodigy (Y/n)."
I smiled, causing Dan to do the same. "Wow, who would've thought that the girl I helped foil a Dust heist was a fellow student at Beacon."
Ruby's eyes dropped down slightly. "Did I say something wrong?" I asked.
As the ship suddenly touched down, Ruby seemed to immediately excuse herself from the group. Yang offered up an apology in her sister's stead then bolted after her leaving Dan and myself to wonder what I said wrong.
Dan pat me on the back then gestured towards one of the many exits the ship had. We exited the ship and soon found ourselves marveling at the campus. The pathways and courtyard were decorated with a grayish tint thanks to the materials used to build them, trees, fountains, and man add fixtures such as lampposts and benches gave color to the grounds.
"We're definitely not in Argus anymore." Dan said.
"Yep."
My eyes darted around the grounds hoping to find a certain person, or in my case avoid them at all costs. Dan turned to me his usual wide grin decorating his face.
"Well (Y/n) we're here now, what do you want to do fi-" Dan is unfortunately (read: thankfully) silenced when a piece of paper managed to attach itself to his face.
Dan, after struggling to remove said paper pointed to his face. A silent plea to help remove it.
"I don't know Dan, I quite like it." I remarked. Dan placed his hands on his hips, hoping for a bit of intimidation but with the paper it wasn't happening.
A moment later (after laughing) I peeled off the paper, Dan let out an over-exaggerated gasp for air. "Devil paper..." He muttered.
I turned the paper over and managed to laugh at what was written on it.
Welcome to Beacon...
A/n: Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukah. Happy Holidays to my watchers and to those now just finding me. Hope y'all stick around for the next chapter!
It's no inconvenience at all.
While pairings will be introduced I wanna really get into each pair, make them work for the romance. After all Volume 1 takes place in about a few months not enough time for a real connection to be made.
The reader's semblance is something my old readers would already know. It's element manipulation basically the reader is the avatar, and like the avatar the reader isn't at full power right at the beginning of the story. I didn't really mention it here because a lot of the times in the show semblances are there they just aren't clearly defined, so I did the same with reader.
Please trust me when I say that I've got this. This reader story has been in the making for the last 4 years and I'll make sure this is something worth reading.
No prob my guy.
And I know what you mean, I honestly started writing in this style because I found the names before the dialogue distracting. Especially when I was trying to write something sad it just kinda ruined the immersion.
I have no problem with the script style I just thought I needed to push myself when it came to writing.
When I'm stuck I like to put on a good song and imagine a scenario with the song as the background.
I usually end up with about 2-3 ideas on how to get around it somehow
