Hi, Hello from ProjectComment.
What strikes me the most when I saw your picture in the folder is the lighting. This is very well done. Congrats !
Though, the whole portrait is very bright. You could have added a little more contrast on the dark parts of the
head and in the neck.
One other thing that striked me is that I've found the face a little bit scary at first. Maybe this is due to the
absence of eyelash, or the space (a little too big) between the eye and the eyebrow. That gives a feeling of a non-quite human face.
As it is digital art, you might be able to lower the eyebrow without even changing the proportions of the forehead.
The shapes of every parts : eyebrow, eyes, nose, lips are very precise and very weel done. Maybe the eyebrow
look a little bit sketchy compared to the other pieces, but it is not really disturbing.
Although the lips are well shaped, they might be a little too big to be realistic.
I really like the cheeks and the chin : you made them sweet and the light seems realistic too.
The ears could have been less fuzzy, as they are not so far away in the portrait.
Overall, this is very nice !

Ah thanks! I've been a bit scared of doing ears so I keep fudging them but i'll do my best to make them more ear-ish!

Use reference! Use reference! Use reference!
That's the best advice I can give for an academic approach to improvement. You have a good idea on how things should be and this is clearly a good depiction of a human head. The eyebrows are a tad high but that's slight. I would push the neck and ears here. Β Next time try going for an actual likeness. Get a reference with some hair and maybe even go for color.
You'll find out that in color, tones and values change, which may present a new challenge for you to tackle. Keep pushing pal. I took a quick look at the other pieces like this, and the growth is evident. Great work!

Hi thanks for your comment! I'd usually use a reference but this challenge's aim (istebrak 14 day challenge) is to develop the ability to draw a generic human form based on 'perfect' proportions using gray scale only to avoid getting distracted by colour. But I'll definitely be doing those things once I've finished this challenge!

Hello, iβm here from project comment.
First of I would like to say that this is my fav from the 4 drawings you did so far. Yes I had to check the other 3 out before I could start writing.
She has a beautiful feminin side to her. Great work on the eyes, they look really lifelike. Yes the eyebrows are a little high but I think that gives her more a scared innocent look. The shading is very wel done, and only using grey gives here a little alien feel as well. Not giving here any hair also adds to that out of this world or clone feel. So yea a scarred sexy female alien, what is there not to like
Little details to look for is that both ears are the same size. The right one is a little erased. That little dark part on the lower lip gives it a twisted look, but it isnβt. Left iris lost a little of itβs contour. Give your edges a quick look before you finnish. Some are smooth some have harder edges.
So if this is your face practice for things to come I canβt wait to see what is coming next.
Keep up the good work.Β

Ah I see what you mean about the edges! Thank you so much for spotting all those little off details I didn't notice them before!Β

From ProjectComment Β
The shading for the skin is on point, but her brows are too high up.Β
Here's a small anatomy lesson: The eyebrows on a person is always lined up with the tips of the ears and the nose is lined up at the bottom of the earlobes.Β
Other than that, this piece is pretty damn good.Β

Eyebrows definitely need to be lower but it's got some nice shading and you have a good understanding of the rest of the face anatomy.Β
