Description
Spock from the Motion Picture, coloured on Ibis Paint! I've FINALLY taught myself to colour and draw digitallyPencil sketch, coloured digitally with my photography as the background (I found some ice and it sorta looks spacey(?) so why not have as a background for Spock
Please be kind as this is my first attempt at digital work (constructive criticism welcome!)❤️ 🖖

oh yeah!
I so love this...now this looks gorgeous! It looks finished without the lines, without them it looked like a study... But this is wonderful, the colour, the background (really interesting suits him well), composition...make it superb...

thank you so much!
I'm pretty happy with this one, hopefully the first of many new digital artworks haha. I need to find a way of creating texture digitally though (the pencil lines give it that, but purely digital sketches look too smooth? It's quite a weird medium to work with :/ )
But thank you so much! You're always so supportive

When you work at making digital art...it's important to become acquainted with all the different brushes and layering...that's what I learned...hope that helps you a bit...but like with everything you have to get used to it...don't worry you have a good base with traditional art which will make it easier for you to understand dimension and shading in digital...I can't wait to see your pieces!
You're welcome...I want to help you and support you...and that means being supportive I'm just glad I am able to that.

You captured the features extremely well! I like the difference intexturing his skin (looks a bit rough in the shadow parts) and in texturing his clothes (here the folds look very smooth) Also the blue above his eyes works pretty well. And the background is great for the painting. If you hadn't written in the description I wouldn't have guessed that it is a photo.

Thank you! I'm glad you like the robes, I had to draw/paint them digitally, whereas the head is based on a pencil sketch (which is why the lines are rougher), I'm def going to play around with creating different textures with the range of brushes; any tips?
And haha yes, I wanted to bring TOS Spock's eyeshadow look to the Motion Picture look 😂 Damn what an entrance he made in those awesome robes! (Shame about the rest of the film..)

Any tips ... I'm kind of a digital illiterate ... I started two years ago with digital painting, and my head still works analogously. So the brushes I use most of the time when I'm painting (and not trying some lineart), are those that mimick oil brushes, and I work on portraits with only two layers (background and portrait), since I still need the "real painting" feeling. I love it, when the strokes still can be seen in the final work. I'm only about to start working with textures or a wider range of brushes.

Thank you! I'm so happy I finally figured out how to clear the white spaces out of uploaded sketches - took me long enough!

still have to figure this out myself O_o But well, I've not managed to get myself interested enough in digital drawing to spend the time required to learn it correctly....
