this piece is awesome. really dig your flow. i see all kinds of biomorphic effects here. also your symmetry and color brings about a vibrant prismatic effect. looking forward to see more works.

a 200 dollar 9 x 11?.....that's pretty kool... DOyou do them on really pro paper like a cold press ? ( i guess i dont know what "sketch paper " means )

Another beautiful work ... It's a shame it's not larger because your detail stroke work is always worth admiring ...

( hey and yer new avatars pretty wild...not as clear...but more mystery to this one ..the other had kinda of a dour look to it even tho it was colorful ...( just a little insight from myperspective ) )

always good to hear from you...
the paper, well, it's just plain old stuff. like out of a sketch pad you can get at office depot or something, lightweight..that was before i discovered smooth bristol and i find that a pack of wausau smooth 110# works ok too.
the size, well, i started to think, if someone can just print it out from dA, what's the point of buying a print? 'tis a shame not to see it larger though, i may submit a few detail shots in small pieces, or something. i'll probably be changing alot of my stuff to less 'zoomed in' views for that reason. hard to resist showing that detail though, i enjoy seeing it up close myself.
the avatar, that used to be an addiction, maybe still is. they're just fun to make, sometimes i get in the mood to make em. this is the result of my latest little avatar escepade(sp?)...

yeah that sucks ...i see your point....peeps are jerks ...

but that's a good idea ......you could just blow up one quarter of one .....stick it n your scraps and link the detailed view to your submission...that way we don't totally lose out....and the thieves only get one quarter ..

i dunno just a thought ... Keep up the good work...

Anna-Kitty [2004-10-02 17:41:25 +0000 UTC]

I see faces in it, not whole faces, eye and mouth and nose there, outline here. Was that intentional?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

strohat In reply to Anna-Kitty [2004-10-05 14:08:41 +0000 UTC]

actually no, anything that looks like something is not intentional. i challenge myself not to draw anything recognizable most of the time...although i've been thinking lately about drawing patterns in nature.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Anna-Kitty In reply to strohat [2004-10-05 16:00:58 +0000 UTC]

That would be a good idea, that can be very oh so challenging depending on the pattern of course but the concept itself is more mind boggling that I can deal with... I'll stick to my cartoons

LilinaFaerie [2004-09-20 20:23:38 +0000 UTC]

incredible work!!! the detail of your linework and shading is really impressive. And i love how this looks like something plausible... lets see, what i mean by that is--something you might see if paints of those colors were somehow mixed... or the way oil puddles look on rainy days... something about the precision and deliberate manner with which youve rendered this otherwise amorphous and chaotic piece that makes to look "real"... nicely done!
