First in a series : strooitje.deviantart.com/galle…The Lady wears the 'Gravensteen' (medieval castle that still stands in the city of Ghent) as if it's a crown.
She wears it on her gigantic hairdo that makes us think of the world itself.
The Castle has been a residence of Counts, cotton mill, medieval reinforcement, to the imposing castle, symbol of power that it was, to tourist attraction which takes many back to their childhood when we where pretending to be knights and princesses...
The Castle had a turbulent history of construction, decay and revaluation. Kind of like many artists live, or for what matters, everyones life...

So very astonishing and remarkable. I rather like the dramatic tilt of this womans' head. She appears to look rather concerned, though at the very same time, she seems to have a look of ponderment without any such doubt. The gratifying detial is almost too much for I to look away as I give you this comment, for it is simply so very modest and brilliant. The color tones, the lighting, the darkened shading, all so very beautiful and calm.

Haha, I guess we like similar stuff. It was interesting actually to see all the little thumbnails laid out there and have a gander at the kinds of things I clearly plump for in illustrations - lots of forests, lots of similar colour schemes...
