I know Im get hate but oh well.
I get the fear trans men have, but our fear shouldn't erase lesbian history. He/him lesbians have existed for a long ass time and due to society, will continue to exist for awhile. I'm not a lesbian or a woman, so I don't know the experience as well as them. But from my understanding, its due to forced feminity to make them "less masculine" or straight in childhood and espcially in their teenage years (maybe even into adulthood) and ppl looking down on them for not being feminine. This leaves a taste in their mouth to the point they refuse to identify with femininity, including pronouns. And they also existed as many lesbian couples would have one of them "preform" or present as male to protect themselves from homophobic hate crimes or even homophobic laws. They use/used it to protect themselves while still being in love.
Of course, I can only get this from reading others experiences. And us as transmen shouldn't try to hate on them.........bc we dont understand their history and just bc a cishet person confused them for us.
And some may say "So she/her gay men exist too?" In which I would have to counter. The only times I've seen gay men use she/her......is if they're in drag and only when they're preforming bc its weird not to use she/her as they are preforming extreme feminity. It doesn't share the same history and isn't apart of the culture (apart from drag which is the only reason ppl try to use it even if they dont like drag!). Though on a viewing level they are the same thing, when you look into it its very different and one is more real than the other
Please do not use this piece if you are a;
Terf, Swerf, Ace Exclusionist, Transmed/Truscum, Nazi, (No)map, anti-anti etc, or intend to make fun of it

As an MTF lesbian waiting to begin transitioning I agree

I think also that a lot of lesbians see femininity as highly interconnected with men, so using he / him pronouns are used as a form of gender non-conformity to reject this.

Also: FTM folks who have chosen to not transition and live their life as a lesbian for one reason or another, but use he/him pronouns occasionally or fully. I had a therapist in her late 70s that grew up as a lesbian, but reflects back that if being trans was more of a thing, she would have been FTM. She uses she/her and he/him intermittently with her inner circle. Modern day examples could live in areas dangerous to trans folks, or not be able to afford it, or just are not comfortable with the possible negative health side effects of transition.
in the past I never really understood he/him lesbians, but that's from my own very limited worldview. And it's understandbly limited... i am not living that life, so it's important to try and listen to the personal reasoning of others...

Yep! They exist too and we shouldn't shame them either. (They may not be as common as ftm ppl who choose to transition but we shouldn't ignore their experience!)
Honestly, thats been my mindset for the last few months and I feel like its made me less angry and frustrated with ppl just bc I don't understand their experience. Listening to other people's reasonings and respecting them for who they are is so important in this day of age, esp since we have the access now to listen to them
