Been meaning to get this out, been stuck in the technical details and perfection for ages. I am no great matte painter for sure, but I do think the overall composition came out beautifully and worth sharing. It was a shame to have it stuck on the desktop.

Creative journal: Thu.09.02.23,Made further alterations to this piece Ascendance by editing it through the Google photos editor to see how a AI matte altered painting might look. This is the second time I've altered an art piece in this manner. Usually this is only applied to photo's but I've found the different editing types bring out different textures, features, contrasts and colours I wouldn't have ordinarily thought of. I've included some of the example variations below.,I like the overall effect of this editor, the downside is there is a significant loss in the details quality .Previous journal entry moved to hereCreative journal: Thu.24.Mar.22 I think I'd bitten off a little bit too much to chew, it was a nightmare working through the layers and I kept getting lost quite a few times. Sometimes the software slowed or got stuck because there were too many layers, it got very disorganised and confusing. I think if I were to attempt it again in the future I need to break the composition up into sections, then bring four sections together, rather than having twenty layers your trying to work through, conceptualise and organise all at once.It felt like I had bitten off too much and the composition was way over my head. Plus I got lost in trying to create the city in the centre of the crater. In the end I gave up and just created a cloud like fog to hide where the city layers over lap in the editing. When I was matte painting it, I tried to go into the photo details of the city to alter it there so that the edges of each photo would blend together seamlessly but this proved an absolute nightmare and I just kept getting lost in the detail.Myself I like the overall composition, but I know and see the flaw where I was unable to get the various photos and AI images to matte paint together in the way I would like. Layers is a great tool, but I need to go back to simpler things and build up my skills and comfortability with it from there.Previous iterations:
