Iteration 2.6Original piece and comparison
Wed.16.Mar.22
Changing her hair was a good decision, it's made a world of a difference for this piece.
Creative journal:
2.6 - Iteration Sat.12.Mar.22
Okay, so I finally completed the change to her hair, and I think the piece now feels complete.
2.5th - Iteration Sat.19.02.22
Finally included alterations to hands, probably next might be hair if I can find a replacement. I was afraid to attempt to do her neck and shoulder area but it turned out fine in the end. It's amusing to see a semi nude woman on my front page, this is more or less complete now, unless I choose to change her hair as an addition.
What I realised through the process was the tool underlying underneath changes the technique, for instance I was worried how to colour her chest and collar bone. Instead of having a photo as a reference by the side of me, the tool I have now allows me to put it underneath, and click backwards and forwards to make sure the tonal direction and shading is correct. In the past I would have had limited access to visual reference material therefore limiting what the image could be. Today, you can simply search an array of reference material some of which might even alter the original inception for the image. The image I used to shade her chest had the shadows on her left side, but my software tool allows me to flip it from left to right so in terms of the direction the shadows are cast on her skin they would match.
I was never really a drawer as such apart from sketches, I could never draw figures or animals from my head. My best pieces in the past were copying photos or meshing different photo concepts together referentially to form something envisioned. I suppose I'm just doing that really but in a different form with a tool that makes the process and evolution easier. Perhaps it's fulfilling what it always could have been.
It will be interesting to see how underlying notes also evolve with these technological changes in tools, even print them out compared to say ten or twenty years ago.
In the end all the changes were to her:
Face
Hands
Legs
Feet
Shoulders
Chest area.
2.4th - iteration Sat.12.02.22
Finally included feet, was going to compromise for shoes, but eventually returned to what I originally envisioned. Next will include alterations to hands and lastly better hair if I can find it or generate it.
2.3rd - Iteration - Wed.19.01.2022
Reduced text size, and mixed the skin tone on her face to match the rest of her body. I'll change her feet later on on, I'll need to find references on Shutterstock and that'll take a long time. I don't have time to complete that today.
2.2nd - Iteration - Tue.18.01.2022
Finally managed to put text into the piece using publisher, been meaning to get around to it for ages. The main point of the title text in the piece is so that it can be called mattte practice 1, 2, 3 etc... Without obscuring that with a theme name.
2.1st - Iteration - Sun.06.12.2021
Okay it's not great, but it is a quick work around. It came to me, the figures generated in the generator look okay but the faces don't. Instead of trying to draw over the faces to alter them, why not scale up the image file from 13cm to 90cm, then import another generated face, and try to see if they would blend together and this was the result.
I was having problems blending the colouration of the woman's face with the rest of the skin tone on her body. As this was more of a resizing exercise, I didn't want to spend too much time focusing on that and decided to cover her neck. The more I tried to blend the tones the more of a mess I was making.
2.0 - Iteration posted 18.09.2021
I'm going to try to improve this process.
Next steps:
Try another technique for a face skin and body skin tone blend.
Try to see how it looks with scenes.
I want to 3D-ize the figures so I can alter their poses but I don't know how to do that yet.
Another amazing step would be able to print these as metal 3D figures.
