Her smile is gorgeous. I would say that it is a little over-exposed though. The skin tone is overly bright.

And that hair...

I had a great laugh at the comments above. You already know my opinion as to this work. I don't have any negative words for this, as I just don't think there's anything to fault on this shot. Anyway...

Her eyes and hair are so captivating!
I wouldn't even have noticed the gums if people hadn't posted about it so much
Awesome colors and everything... Well done!

Actually, this is quite wonderful. Colours are amazing, even liked how you tied in her colours with the background. Dunno if this was on purpose or not but. Well done.

I like the vibrant background, but I think it detracts from her beauty just a little, by showing up her beautiful red hair and bright sienna eyes...

The focal length is perfect and the model is spectacular, the smile might be a little too hight...the gums are a little too prominent...

Overall 4 out of five stars and a in my book!

Smile is completely natural, nothing was posed. that is the best I can ask for.

Nullpersona In reply to StudioFovea [2008-03-25 11:12:20 +0000 UTC]

I agree, it goes to the eyes as most posed smiles fail to. Unfortunately, possibly due to a relatively small upper lip or overly large dental area, her gumline is all too visible. As a spontaneous portrait it is top notch, and as emotive of say "happiness" it is fine, but a smile similar to [link] is, in my opinion (flawed as it may be) ideal as far as ratios of teeth-to-gums. The lip resting at the top of the front two incisors, showing the gums but not making them bared like an angry animal. (Don't hit me)

Possibly a little harsh, but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw that much gumline. Sorry.

As I said before four out of five. The backgound and smile would have made it a five for sure!

So if someone had a crooked nose, would you say their nose is too crooked?

What if they had a goiter on their neck? "YOUR NECK TO HEAD RATIO IS WAAAY OFF! THERE'S A HUGE GROWTH. YOU SHOULD'VE TAKEN CARE OF THAT, FOR SURE!"

I do not mean to degrade any particular person. I am merely stating that I believe either the smile or the model could be more ideal. Emotive portraits, IMHO are supposed to be intricately meticulous. Each detail should support the theme. Nothing should detract from the message.
