Your colouring is so impressive! The only criticisms I might make are that her legs seem disproportionately thin, but it isn't really obvious.
I adore the shading on her wings and the colour scheme of black, blue and pink is very interesting.

One of your best. You deserve more publicity than this!

it's been finished for quite a while, I just got a better scan of it recently and replaced the original one. I was trying to get it uploaded for making prints, but it didn't want to upload last night. will try again

She is so pretty. I love blue and black together, and this picture combines them so nicely!
I must say, the wings are my favourite part. I love how the pencil strokes create that effect, which may be nothing, I just can't use pencils at all and my jealousy for your pencilish talent is taking over right now. *grin*

thank you! (sorry I'm so slow in responding to comments, I'm very shy) I tried out that pencil technique first on Dancing for Mother Moon, and liked it so much I decided to use it on a picture that didn't have glaring arm anatomy errors I can't remember why I picked Blue to go with the black, but i'm very happy with it

Oh wow...those Epilogue people are fools for not accepting your work! Have you tried entering this yet? Lovely piece. I love how you layer your colors! The pose, subject matter, and clothes are all excellent as well.
Since you've requested critique though, I'd offer that the legs are pretty thin and maybe a little short too. Also, the shading you did with her collarbone is a little sharp, you might want to blend it a bit to give it a softer look.
Keep it up, hun, your art is beautiful!

^_^ the epilogue story has turned out much happier lately... this one got in first try, and with a bit of extra detail and a MUCH better scan, my previous mermaid did too ^_^.
thank you much for the crit. I noticed the collarbones beign a touch awkward after I finished it, but as she's a fairy and all, a bit of extra-sharp skinny-ness isn't too out of place

That's absolutely beautiful. You've always had a way with colours, but it's just formed to be more and more a beautiful thing as you've worked at it. There's a wonderful softness about the piece in general, and is very enticing..

the key to a good deep black is layering... I used 3 colors of pencil for the blacks in this one... Indigo Blue as a base color, Black for color and shading, and Periwinkle as a blender. On he boots, I used Sepia as base, Black as color, and 50% french grey for blending. that way, the boots have the brown-black color of dyed leather, while the clothing is a deep blue-black to complement the light blue.
thank you much for the compliment ^_^

Oh Hun!! This tured out just fabulous! I love the shading, and shine to the wings, the bubbles, and butterflies are perfect for this, so soft, so light, so barely there, compaired to your lovely lady here, who is so strong, in pose, and colors. I LOVE her declotea...(throat meets collar bone thing ^^) and the (looking att he picture) right hand ^^...it's SO wonderfully built, and shaded. yum yum FAV ^^
