How dod you make it look so soft and like... it's not made with a computer? :0 I love this kind of colouring but yet haven't managed to find out the secret on how to colour like this myself. Even the linearts have a small traditionally-made feeling in them.
But this is lovely *3* Colours match with each other perfectly

StudioQube In reply to Mayauru [2007-02-09 22:46:11 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. Everything but the original lineart is completed in Photoshop. The tight and thin linework, as well as the textures are meant to add a traditional feeling

Qube, what do you use to make the line art?
π: 0 β©: 1
StudioQube In reply to archvermin [2007-02-09 22:38:34 +0000 UTC]
This was hand drawn at first. Work with Pilot's Color Eno led (0.7) pencils (light blue led). However, once scanned, the lineart is toned to brown...or whatever is appropriate. Other than that, extensive clean up was required for this one, to keep the line tight and thin. Hope that answers you question!

archvermin In reply to StudioQube [2007-02-10 02:43:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeap . Just one more, when you say extensive, how extensive? The only way I can think of to clean up the lineart using Photoshop is to go over it with a thin brush on a new layer + eraser (and that would require extensive effort indeed), is that what you do as well?
Thanks for taking the time to answer
π: 0 β©: 1
StudioQube In reply to archvermin [2007-02-27 00:18:06 +0000 UTC]
That's one method. You can always use a layer mask incase you erase something by accident. Rather than undoing, simply switch between black/white brushes to remove or add. It's really the same as erasing, with some added insurance.
Yep, the process can be a bit of a time stealer. Working clean with pencil also helps. Blue led pencils generally stay quite clean...it's a big plus .
