This is a great piece. I'm still not sure how to interpret it, of course; playful sibling rivalry, with Luna pretending to be fierce, or a darker illustration of Luna's descent into anger and madness, and Celestia's terrible blindness to what's happening to her sister?

very interesting analysis, but for me it wasn't so complicated. It's just a parody of another illustration about sibling rivalry, but done for the parallels. In that picture, the 'evil' sibling was only portrayed in such a way under directions from the 'good' sibling commissioning it.Β
