The shading on these ponies make them look not like they're painted, but rather sculpted from some brilliantly colored polymer clay, and the way the light falls on their geometric eyes and snouts are particularly fascinating. It's wonderful how absolutely crisp every line is. I do love their eyes, but If I had to request it modified any, I'd ask for just a bit more crystal glimmer to add to their current metallic sheen. Perhaps if the specularity on them was harsher, with some extra shine and rim lighting.
I think your version is actually better than the original. And not just because this one is filled with ponies, but actually because I think your painting is higher quality. The medic's gun, for one, looks more just plain interesting here, and the touches of highlights bleeding off into background and setting the figures forward is just brilliant. Your characters are painted to be engaging and visceral, not just a background, but art worthy of the foreground.
That, however, certainly hasn't kept it from becoming my desktop wallpaper though!

oh wow, thanks for the critique! I'm mostly just trying to copy the original, but i did notice there seems to be more detail in the original "RED" title bg than the "Medic" bg, so I tried to even out the detail across the pony versions. Now that you mention it, rim lighting would be a cool effect; I'll experiment with it in the future!

Putting this extremely awesome picture aside for a moment, I never quite get why Fluttershy is always the Medic. Sure, she's a veterinarian in the show, but the Medic is a complete psychopath who never even finished medical school (the Medigun's healing is actually an unintended "bothersome" side effect). Fluttershy would make a better Heavy; yes, the Heavy is a big loud Russian man, but only on the battlefield. At home he's a quiet, well-mannered literature aficionado

Well that is a good analysis, but here's my solution: Fluttershy does not have the heart to remotely injury anypony, even if the bullets are apples, missiles pillows, and bombs potions*, thus putting her into the role of healing. Another reason might be her Flutterrage mode for "The Best Night Ever" where she went demonic. Another reason I like to put her as Medic is since I put Big Macintosh as Heavy and I'm a huge FlutterMac fan, and you know that the Medic and Heavy has a pretty good chemistry, I like to depict love on the battle field between them.
*That's just my way of negating the gore and blood in the game, I'm a pacifist sue me.

The only problem I have with that (and it's a pretty small problem) is that the Medic focuses on healing not because he doesn't like to cause harm, but because healing his teammates will cause even MORE harm to the enemy. In his words, "Ze healing is not as rewarding as ze hurting". More pain = more schadenfreude. This is the opposite of Fluttershy's motive
Your FlutterMac explanation seems solid to me, but then again I do not comprehend FlutterMac at all. It's not a bad pairing, I don't hate it, but I just don't see why anyone would (or wouldn't) pair them. They have no mutual screentime, much less any chemistry (positive or negative)

Well, do the pony replacements of the team have to match the teams to a T? I don't really think so. But remember this is just my reasoning to why Fluttershy is the Medic.
And really, even if it's not in the show does not mean it could possibly happen.(highly doubt it but, eh what you gonna do) And hey, this is a fandom, we can do almost whatever we want with the things that are not on the show.

It's probably related to Fluttershy being so small it's funny to Heavy and hard for artists to make her look good in the role. As long as we have Fluttershy at all that's the important part.

to be honest only RB and rarity fit into the characters of their part... but thats not the point. the point is just: whats is the most fun combination. yes their are "artist" who put Flutter into the heavy role,but since the Gmod clips combining flutter and heavy just equals a bromance... and who has the canon bromance to heavy? da medic
