Usually, on something like this, i would say nice work, needs different colours in it also, but i love this piece, the orange being th only colour just adds to the perfection. Nicely Done

it's a great image man. i like the balance of reds and yellows here, and use of shadows. good planets also. and you're right, reminds of Leeds

or Omega-11

I just played through Freelancer again, but haven't gone into Omega-11 so I can't remember what it looks like
At least I know for sure now that it was Leeds I was thinking of

sweet image - but there is so much red - it looks like it is an image of only the red channel. The edges of the planet could be more white, and tinges of other colors could help the piece as a whole.

Yeah, I'm going to stray from the saturated colours in the future and go for something a bit more realistic. Thanks for the tips as well

Anywhere from 30 mins to about 3 or 4 hours a day. I tend to lose track of the time when I'm using Photoshop

Good work! It's hard to pull-off so much contrast, but this really came out wonderfully. My only complaint is the larger planet's quality compared to the other two.

Looks great nonetheless! Keep it up

Yeah, I should have worked on the larger planet some more. I won't make the same mistake in future though

xRed-thunderDragoNx [2006-11-13 18:50:43 +0000 UTC]

really stunning mate
i love those distant clouds, the highlights, all those details!
it'sa a pitty the texture of the big planet isn't so good as the rest of the piece (wich would look much better without it, imo)
this kind of texture on the bg is such a mistery to me, but i'm studing, i'm working on it! ^^

would you have any pic of this system?
i never played freelancer and i'm curious to see how this Leeds looks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stut29 In reply to xRed-thunderDragoNx [2006-11-14 06:15:20 +0000 UTC]

I really wanted to try and work a bit more with scale this time around, and the big planet seemed to give it more of a 'wow' factor. I didn't put as much work into it as the other planets, and I think it shows
The whole background was brushed, and it took quite a while to get the look I wanted

I'll reinstall Freelancer this weekend and take a screen of the Leeds system. I'm gonna look so stupid if it turns out I was thinking of another system, then the name will be meaningless!

stickersticker [2006-11-13 17:11:30 +0000 UTC]

Good colours. You've got the concepts down pat i would say. Now just work on the details. Especially texture quality. Work on a bigger canvas if you can, that should help a bit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stut29 In reply to stickersticker [2006-11-14 06:09:45 +0000 UTC]

Everything was shrunk down by 50%, but the small planets had already been shrunk previously and I guess it shows when you look at the big planet. I'll try to use a higher res texture next time

Thanks for the comment
