Description
Study of my brother's hand. He's got great hands; they're sort of knobby with crooked fingers, but they look solid. He plays great guitar and bass, and he's good at scratching my dog. This is really difficult for me, but I find the knees and the shoulders to be much more difficult. TT___TTThis is one of 29 other hand studies, and a part of a 30 Hands/30 Feet set; they were part of my homework for Beginner's Life Drawing, which began three class sessions ago.
My professor really loves hands. I think I'm beginning to love them, as well. Have you ever seen Michelangelo's sculpture, "David," and looked carefully at the hands? They're disproportionately large, but I don't think I've ever seen anything so beautiful.
This quick sketch has a lot of issues, but I'm going to get better; I'm only three days into the class, after all. It's going to take a LOT of hard work to understand the bones, muscles, and the way they stretch and work together.
