Anyway, this little goober is still way too cute for her own good. Never would have guessed that she was shy and introverted based on what you've drawn of her so far, actually.

I really like this kid.
She has this really cute design that I would really like to emulate with a character one of these days. There's this kind of suburban girl, innocent, yet (unintentional) troublemaker vibe about her in the way she looks. With her expressions, she seems like the kind of kid with plenty to say, but has the habit of holding herself back in thoughts and emotions as if trying not to get too rowdy in how she feels, coinciding with that sort of shut-in personality you alluded to in the description. Also, that is a very nice shade of blue in her eyes there. In fact, it's personally my favorite shade. Blue is great.
And lastly, please don't take this in the wrong way. I'm not saying Nik is her, just pointing out something that's always been in the back of my mind every time I came across her. Nik, for some reason, has always reminded me of Endling's Ree . I may be the only one who thinks this, but I just see a strong connection in the two, not in the way of being the same character, but in their characters just happening to be similar. This is in NO way a bad thing at all, just pointing it out.
Overall, Nik is a fantastic character and that's me saying that even before actually seeing her in action. Really hope we see more of her!

You're not alone, have at least a bakers dozen of the compared-to-End-style comment this past year alone. Had the comment in real life a couple times too. The comparison is strange to me because if you observe our work, you see a very different personality of line, shape, nuances and overall quality draftsmanship on his part. But whatever it is, can't be too offended when the artist in question is pretty darn good; I'd be a happy camper if I came even a fraction close to finding that honesty and freedom in my work, that shines in his.
I can see why you'd recall Ree. They share similarities in age, awkwardness, cusp of teenage innocence vibe. Design-wise I base my character hairstyles/shape on whether or not I'd be able to animate them without losing hair of my own during the process, so I like to keep things simple.
End and I have different life experiences and influences to extrapolate from, so hopefully performance-wise they're different in volumes. But we'll see, I'll let you decide for yourself when you get to know this kid a little more down the road. : ]
