Description
After spending so many hours on my last drawing, I felt like doing something a little less time-consuming - so I set myself a challenge this morning: I would try to finish a new drawing in one day. The perfectionist in me couldn't handle doing a quick-and-dirty portrait (I officially suck at quick-and-dirty drawings - I'm way too obsessed with details to pull them off), so I figured I'd do another eye drawing. I had to rush a few things (to the great dismay of my perfectionist alter ego) because I really wanted to finish it, so it's definitely not perfect. However, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.Original picture by ~Doodoox ([link] )

schön, das freut mich!
du benutzt kein photoshop, obwohl du deinen eigenen experten hast?!
was macht dein Dad denn von beruf?

Do you mind if I reply in English this time? I'm feeling a bit groggy today and writing a proper message in German would take me ages... But if you want to reply, feel free to do it in your mother tongue - it's still good practice for me!
I had to look up the expression 'ein sechser im Lotte' - But I guess you're right. My Dad's a living Photoshop manual!
Not because of the job he has, though. He works in the development department of a rather small firm that makes all sorts of measuring equipment for laboratories. In his free time he loves to design and create stuff (and he's really good at it, if I may say so myself!), which is why he loves using Photoshop. What about your parents? What do they do?
It would be great if you could make a tutorial for me! Thank you! I'll send you a note with my e-mail address (I don't feel comfortable writing it down here, where everyone can see it).
So, which entry did you vote for in the Couples Contest? The other admins and I had a really hard time choosing the five finalists, and picking my number one favorite was even more difficult! But in the end I went for *Svera 's drawing (not only because I'm a huge Prison Break fan; I also thought it was the most romantic ).
Unfortunately my parents are not the holiday-celebrating kind of people, so we don't have any plans for Easter. But we are going to paint a couple of eggs, just for fun - I hope I don't screw them up in my current foggy state! How are you celebrating Easter? Will you be having a huge breakfast on Sunday?
P.S.: Congratulations again on passing your test! I'm proud of you!

no, I don't
why do feel groggy? to less sleep?
was macht dein Dad denn in diesem bereich? das würde mich wirklich interessieren!
und was macht dein Mom?

About my dad: I didn't mean to say that he spends all of his free time creating stuff in Photoshop, just for the sake of creating it (you know, like I draw portraits because I love drawing). However, when he needs to design something (e.g., for his job, or maybe a Christmas card for our family), he likes to use Photoshop. And as far as I know he's completely self-taught, just like you!
My mom doesn't have a job. She's always been a stay-at-home mom, although she did work in a toy store for a brief period of time when I was about 10 or 11. The fact that both of your parents are lawyers does explain why you want to study Law!
I don't have any brothers or sisters, which can be boring on some occasions but a blessing on others. What about you?
By the way: thanks a lot for the tutorial! I will try it out as soon as possible!

oh doch!

It's absolutely stunning! It's sooo detailed. The iris looks fantastic!Everything looks fantastic!
I have one question for you, hope you don't mind.
I noticed your drawings are very light. For example, most people draw eyelashes in black or in really dark shade of gray, and you drew them medium gray ,so I was wondering, is it your scanner or drawing in light tones is just your style?
I'm asking this just because the drawings which have more contrast, dark, lighter and light tones pop up much more.
(I know from the experience, almost no one noticed my drawings when the were light and)
low-contrasted)
You don't have to worry that your drawings won't get noticed-that's impossible since they're all amazing!
Have you ever tried to play with brightness and contrast in some editing program just to see how your drawing would look if you drew it darker and more contrasted?
I hope you won't misunderstood me,I'm not telling you should start drawing in darker tones with more contrast,I'm just interested in reason why you're drawing in such light tones

First of all, thank you very much for the lovely compliment! I really appreciate it!
Second, of course I don't mind you asking me a question! I love to receive feedback, certainly when it can help me improve. The answer is that it's a bit of both, really. I tend to draw in light tones (I don't really know why, I guess it's just my style), but my scanner also takes some of the contrast away - for example, the eyelashes are a bit darker on paper (more black than medium gray, I would say). I did try to edit one of my drawings digitally once, but that wasn't such a success, probably because I didn't use the right program. I guess I should do it in Photoshop, but I have no idea how... I'm a bit dumb when it comes to those things.
I'll try to pay more attention to it in my next drawing, though!
Thanks again for the feedback!

The question I asked you came to my mind when I saw this masterpiece [link]
I tried to make 2-3 clicks to edit it just to see how it would look and this is what I got don't worry I'll delete it as soon as you see it
See what I huge difference!I don't know how dark the drawing is in the reality so maybe I exaggerated with the contrast.
I thought I show you.I should be studying right now so I'm doing everything but that

Wauw, echt heel mooi!
