Description
This is just a process about the things I try to remember making reference sheets, but reference sheets can be whatever. Remember reference sheets are REFERENCES, people will be refering back to them. Making messy or super cluttered ref sheets can result in a badly done piece of work.

Be sure to always take notes on build/fur type/length/width of stuff/features that stand out (docked tails, button ears, etc), and not just the obvious stuff like "He has a tattoo here !"

The more stuff you feature and point out leaves less things to the imagination, remember all artists will interpert art differently when they begin to draw your character, it's your job to point out what is and isn't just stylistic differences !

This tutorial isn't so you can copy/trace/etc my layouts. I don't think anyone would since my layouts are pretty simplistic but just throwing that out there.

Have any questions? Let me know.

holy heck this is actually v useful. i often make new refs of my sona whenever his design changes or whenever i think my art style is outdated in it. same goes for any other character i own.

even tho he’s my sona i think there are lots of things i leave out that can be added and make it easier to interpret and also raises the chance of me being happier with commissions, gifts, trades, & etc. thanks for sharing this!
