Happy (almost) Sunset Shimmer Day!

I was really good this year and actually remembered to get things done for it. I thought about making a new drawing but i really liked my sketch from last year (www.deviantart.com/sugar-loop/… ) so I decided to finally finish it.

I have a headcanon about Sunset coming back to Equestria to help Twilight with her royal duties and them falling in love. I have a longer explanation here if anyone is interested: www.deviantart.com/sugar-loop/… . Basically, Twilight has trouble controlling both the sun and the moon and so Sunset comes back as she had shown talent in being able to raise the sun, hence her cutie mark and why she became Celestia's student. They split up the sun and moon amulet that Celestia and Luna gave Twilight (or they both get one, I can't decide) and split their duties. Along the way Sunset makes more friends, they fall accidentally in love and everyone lives happily ever after and G5 doesn't happen.

I don't know this if this is going to be my final design for her princess form; I think this might be a good transitional design between unicorn and full princess as she grows. I've always wanted to see her with orange in her mane since with her yellow and red people compare her to bacon or ketchup and mustard, and I have to say I think it looks really great and rounds her colors out. I went with silver jewelry in order to contrast her coloring as well as Twilight's gold jewelry, but I definitely had a lot of versions before I settled on this one! I did my best with the amulet colors - in every screencap it's either nighttime or magic is covering it and distorting the colors, so I definitely had to brighten it up some.
