Description

So here we are:
From a kid thinking it would be cool if each chaos emerald was a person-
to an adult watching steven universe.
to October 2017 when I drew them on paper.
to fall 2018 when they first went digital.
to spring 2019 when i first updated them to a nicer quality.
to finally 2020 spring/summer now as i finally got them to final draft version they are done.
I am an incredibly indecisive artist with adhd and schoolwork, so i took my time with these. i have a million ideas but i was never gonna be happy until i was happy with these gems
i know it is cringy but i have never felt more connected to any art i have ever done before. these are my babies.

THIS IS NOT "what if these two franchises crossed over" sonic and those characters are not in this AU. this is a re-imagining of what if the chaos emeralds were their own thing in the SU universe.
These gems were created as a Diamond Sanctioned Kindergarten experiment. Proposed by one of thier scientists the experiment was suppose to create 7 perfect emeralds from a rare material found on a former colony world destroyed by a meteor strike of unknown origins. These Emeralds were proposed to hold more potential and power then any non-Diamond. These 7 were proposed to be a squad dedicated to and equipped for solving any situation necessary. 7 Gems who could be deployed when other gems are to incompetent and would also complete there Task.
This was the dream at least. Unfortunately the chaotic nature of the rare beryl-based minerals that were to be used, caused a chaotic result. instead of 7 perfect Emeralds, what came out was 7 unorthodox off colors. Only one of them even came out the right shape and size but she was bright red like a Bixbite of all things.
With alll the resources used in this undertaking however, Their kindergartner, a Red Aplite (much like a peridot in origin but red), convinced the Diamonds that while "hideously imperfect" the would never have to be in homeworld and wee still very equipped to get their job done. grudgingly given a pass by Yellow, their first task was to travel to Delta-space where problems for lesser colonists have been occurring. They were to investigate a series of worlds, on thier way, then turn towards the earth where Pink Diamond claimed to be having trouble with her first colony. a test for them and a gift for Pink if they proved thier worth.
What came next was unforeseen, upon entering the mysterious sector of the universe, Deltaspace, they are caught in a cosmic anomaly, a swirling spacial vortex that sucked them into the future by thousands of years. Now they seek to still complete their first mission, and reach earth, to prove to both the Diamonds and themselves that even against unforeseen circumstances they would not give up their duty. Little do they know of the enemies they will make, nor of the fate of their Diamond.

Right off the back i will say this is not suppose to be their home-world sanctioned outfits. when first sent to the future they crash and are forced to reform. it is by instinct that they choose he following forms. i also did my damnest to try to keep the size of thier gems uniformly but eh, slight mistakes can occur,

Red is the Fearless Leader and Captain of this crew. Wielding heat, and in turn also flames when she gets hot enough. this Buccaneer-esc Captain is the definition of eccentric, always willing to try a new thing, and jumping forward into any situation without hesitation. She has cunning, though unorthodox in her conclusions and ideas, that keeps her unpredictable and ahead of her foes. Her height is equivalent to a normal emerald, which is to scale to garnet's height (minus the hair)

Blue is a cautious soul, but a protective and caring one. Her first thought is always serving others and the principle of chivalry. matching her calm and cool demeanor she lowers the temperatures around her to freezing if so chooses, and wields cooling and ice powers. in her arsenal she may also project a shield that can be ridden on like a snowboard. as long as there is water in the air, she can create ice to slide on or erect walls with. Her height, though a large build is actually only as tall as a pearl or Lapis Lazuli.

Green is rough and tough, with unmatched strength and a power over gravity, there is nothing too big or too heavy for her to handle supposedly. anything she touches either looses or gains gravitational pull, either from their own gravity to the planet, or pulling other objects to it. she cannot make other gems weigh less or more however. This is a gem however that enjoys combat. the sport of fists and wrestling the most as it gives her the chance to prove her strength and to see what others are capable of, often throwing herself at an enemy first if they look physically strong. Her height is best to be compared to Jasper's in sheer powerfull stature.

Purple is a mysterious member. she was born from the ground without eyes. however in exchange she gained an ability to sense her surroundings in a disembodied way. 360 directional vision from her mind. In this way she can also sense the feelings and emotions of others, especially strong emotions emanating like aura off gems or organics. another ability is her incredible acrobatics. her dress twirls as she moves like a dancer, spinning her weapon like a massive baton as she dances through foes with the deadly grace of a killer fem-fatal. While she comes off as calm and straight forward, willing to do as she is told, she is also not a fan of combat, often hoping another of her sibling emeralds handle enemies for her, and though she feels insecure in this feeling, the others know it and do there best not to involve her if possible. this reluctance does not equate to lack of ability and no one is sure what else she is capable of. Her height is best compared to Garnet, being about 6 inches taller then her and our Red Emerald.

Cyan is a perfect cinnamon roll that sees joy wherever she goes. with her power over air/gasses/atmosphere, she acts as a ranged support, donning a bow to launch air-blasting arrows from her position up high. unfortunately she is also frail and thus is often seen as needing protection, resulting in her overwhelming desire to be useful, though this can be seen as no different then a child feeling that they are not being recognized by adults, wich isnt far from the truth as she is very naive and good hearted. She is the smallest of the 7 emeralds, coming up shorter then any member of the shorty squad by a few inches.

Yellow is the speeding bllet of the team, speeding up time for herself body and creating an electrical current in the process, she runs incredibly fast and wields bolts of electricity. her small stature makes this even harder to hit for enemies and also makes her great at escaping danger. she has an ax for her size but she hardly seems to ever use it, relying on giving foes hartty zaps with her palms charged with electricity. Like her hair suggests she is often seen as a shooting star by her siblings. however with great speed comes great immaturity and impatience. her impulses are rash and she often doesn't think before acting, getting herself into lots of trouble, often involving being completely unqualified or prepared. Her height is that of peridot's.

And now we have White Emerald, the brains of the group, as well as their mechanic/scientist. she focuses her efforts not on fighting but on strategy, and scientific solutions. this brings her at odds with purple who chooses spirituality and feelings, but they get along in a friendly rivalry sort of way. White has spears and swords in the shape of clock hands but her primary defense is her intellect and Temporal manipulation (like i wouldnt give time powers to chaos emeralds). she can see up to 10 seconds in advance (though not consecutively) and can freeze time outside of her mind, giving her time to think of responses, for up to 10 seconds. (also not consecutively). she cannot move in frozen time however, only think and process durring it, and time only freezes for the area she is present in. trying to exceed limit however can bring her close to poofing if she isn't careful. she tries not to rely on these powers though except in emergencies, as she thoroughly believes time is too dangerous to mess with. height wise she is the size of a common pearl or lapis.
(Just to point out because she's so white, if you cant tell she has a visor)

As you can see, i made several changes but the overall feeling is the same. Hopefully everyone will like my final results. from now on the only differences will be if i have them poofed, which will happen eventually. also i plan on drawing their homeworld outfits/uniforms eventually, along with their ship. but i think next ill be moving onto new gems and redrawing more old ones after.
