Description
The end of another warm up session and another continuous lineart exercise. It's no secret I'm a huge of J Scott Campbell and love how he draws female comic book characters. It's cheesecake but it's cheesecake of the highest order. I googled his recent cover work and took a Spider-Man cover with an 80s themed Mary Jane doing aerobics while Spidey and Venom slug it out in the background. In my other ongoing bid to get better at colour work I chose mid tone, highlight and shade tones and added them at the end.I'm quite pleased with how it turned out but here's the original so judge for yourselves.

Truth be told? I think your work represents the next tier that Campbell should strive to develop. You have much better knacks for marrying curvature and muscle tone to lithe femininity. Your style is equally cheesecake as it is heroic.
Before reading the title, I actually thought this was Starfire because of the color scheme. Bravo, sir!

Wow - I honestly don't feel worthy of praise like that but thank you! If I get really good I'll draw those Danger Girl sequels we all want to see!

Pish-posh. Your Firestar piece just cements my point. Scott does curves, but even with male characters, he doesn't quite sell the beasty savagery of muscle tone. I see your linework, especially in this method, and how your drafting helped you shape your final product. It's clear how you're mindful of not only those cheesecakey, buttery and sextastic curves, but that you're using dimension and athletic features to really sell the curves.
The difference between you two, is that he makes a chocolate chip cookie. You make a brown butter chocolate chunk cookie with 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt ... and dare I say, a little fresh ground matcha?

I donβt know what to say except that you get to pick the character for my next continuous line study.

Oh, shit! .... that's a rather savory batch of apples, compadre!
I'm craving Rogue, personally. How's she aligning with your appetite?

Rogue it is. If there's any particular vintage you're after (Jim Lee, JSC, Art Adams, Silvestri...) let me know and I'll look up some references for tomorrow's exercise.

Easily Jim Lee's groundbreaker. By God, that iteration all but saw me through the entirety of my puberty. To this day, she's the name I whisper fondly whilst staring into the starlit horizon when standing on the beach. Christ, I would snort her dandruff.

Ah the one from βadjectivelessβ X-Men? Leather jacket, yellow and green suit, wild mane of hair. Thatβs one of the few runs of comics I still have from childhood. She called everyone βSugah.β π

To lie with her was tantamount to suicide, and for many young men, I think that taboo was the buttercreme icing on the cheesecake

Nice.
I love β80s throwback stuff.
Why not try something by John Romita Jr. I think his style would lend well to continuous line drawing.

I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea but I'm a huge JR Jr fan. He is my favourite Daredevil artist.
I'll add him to the list. I may look for a decent Firestar image to work from too.

Aww you got my message.
I was honestly wondering because this app, (and others) have been so buggy lately Iβm not even sure theyβre sending. I canβt even make new folders to separate things.

Flattery will get you everywhere! (This sketch work is interesting to me but might bore others rigid or be utterly uninteresting. I'll keep it in my sketches folder anyway).
Here's a thought - any other artists you'd like to see me try and take on with continuous lines?

Take on Jim Lee or John Romita Jr.
