Younger, idealistic Luke is certainly easier to watch. That said I actually thought it was interesting to see what would happen when that idealism was broken. I and other of my friends headcanon that Luke had severe, untreated depression and PTSD from all the awful shit he went through in the OT which played a role in what happened to him between the OT and ST.

It really upset me, TBH. Not only did Kylo die but he was FORGOTTEN and Rey stole his legacy. Guess she was a Palpatine to the core.
