Used IOS 100, with about 15 seconds of exposure time. Used a cold color temp along with it.

Thanks for the comment!

superb! I just adore this one...
The lighting is beautiful and the fact that I can see the cars even though there is a train supposed to block my sight!

Great ! The best here are the opposite colors, especially the blue moon vs orange beams. My only complaint concerns the cars and the city lights in the background, they keep your photograph in the real life (of course this is my point of view)

Nice shiny photo. I like how the two red stripes of light evlove to the moving train on the right, gives a great sense of movement and everything in this picture is so crisp, shiny and dynamic!

I really like this shot! The train passing by is such a cool effect. However, I'm not sure the red light in the middle adds to the photo. I think the long exposure effect would be enhanced if the red light were taken away.

I tried to take it away, but editing it ruined the photo. And if I didn't continue the exposure, the moon would not have come out the way it had. This will re re-shoot soon enough to try it again.

Thanks for the honest comment much appreciated!

Awesome shot! I really like this one. Great colors, nice saturation. I also really like how you captured the light casted on the clouds by the moon.

This one is just EXCELLENT - with the lights and the moon - so crisp - so sharp
Rutherford should be proud - these images need to be seen in local magazines -
or hung in places where people can see them! -
loving it - - - -

I really am proud of this one too. The only thing I wish I did differant was close the shutter before the gate began to rise again because it wouldnt have put that bright red line in the middle of the photo.

Thanks for the comment

eRiQ In reply to sullivan1985 [2006-03-14 17:37:32 +0000 UTC]

Nah - I think the vertical line of the gate adds an extra dimension to the composition -

(( did you ever get to take any of the snow photos - you HOBO-boy - ))

excellent shot i love the vertical light from the rail it really breaks up the picture and i think it becomes the focal point of the whole picture
i really enjoy this kind of photography
how long did you have the shutter open for

keep up the good work

sullivan1985 In reply to SuperRed [2006-03-14 02:27:17 +0000 UTC]

Let see...

About a 15 second exposure in BULB, about f/13, ISO 100, 2500k White Balance with a wide angel lens.

Thanks much for your comment. I wish more people commented like you.

captainchapo In reply to sullivan1985 [2006-04-18 01:04:28 +0000 UTC]

hey this is fantastic...i'm curious, did you attempt to take a longer exposure so you got the entire arc of the gaurd rail thing? did that create undesireable effects with the train?, like make it too transparent? (assuming you used a lower aperature setting)
regardless, you're inspiring, thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sullivan1985 In reply to captainchapo [2006-04-18 07:22:59 +0000 UTC]

I would have used a longer exposure time, but if I had kept the shutter open any longer I would have also captured the cars that where waiting behind the gates, which would have ruined the shot in my opinion. That's why the shot ended with a portion of the arc,

Thanks for the comment!
