The background dispels the illusion, but if you were to take out the background, just have her legs and the tree trunk, it'd have that quality.

It's not really cheating. Sometimes, by taking something away, a composition can make the results look bad, or not as good. It's just another option. It's a gamble when you take a picture into photoshop. More often than not, the results are less than pleasing. I don't speak from personal experience, but rather from friends who use it religiously.
If you know a friend who has it, you might see what they can do with it.

well i think black and white photo's highlight more and give a wider range to do things
