Drawing the rough sketch and laying out the guide lines was quite fun but unfortunately I must have handle the paper to much or got something on it because the ink just wasn't laying right and caused me all kinds of problems. I should have started over but decided to rush through and finish it up.
All in all it didn't turn out to bad.

Wonderful work, glad to see that photo drawn like this as it was such a nice little place. The shading is especially clever as it's all blended so subtly.

Do you start out by drawing a layout in pencil first, or do you just do it in ink from start to finish? I've been wondering about that for some time now.

It depends on the drawing but usually I'll start by doing a rough draft in pencil to get the proportions, details and scale worked out then I'll use that to create a very light pencil outline before pulling out the pens
